Collin, Thank you for taking the time to make these calendars. No matter what you do someone will not be happy.

TheAsset and i were not negative negative or disparaging in any way, we simply stated some observations that struck us odd, that maybe you had not considered.
correct me if i'm wrong, but discussion and feedback is one of the major purposes of a forum like this, right?

wouldn't you agree that it's good to learn from other peoples perspectives and feedback?

anyway, thanks for making a community calendar and im sure it will turn out just fine.

Yea you hit it on the head and that's not even covering it all.

...I guess for some reason after seeing the professionalism in some of the photos people had submitted, I assumed the calender would follow in the same manner. I realize it's not my calender and all that, but I feel like the people who took the time to build such beautiful machines and get photos taken, could at least get a calender that is put together with the same level of time and respect. Given the unorthodox voting system, I'm not sure there's much point to voting at all. Sure you can't make everyone happy, but that's not even the point here.

Let alone the voting is scattered all over the 3rd gen section. A little organization would go a long way. Is this how it has been done in years prior to this calender?

Regardless at least it's a calender full of RX7's

This is how it worked last year. And it worked good. The thing with the voting is that it is possible to manipulate. Example if theres two cars with a lot of votes in a particular set, it may be that they both go through. If an deserved car doesn't make it into the next round, it's pretty obvious to most people and that being the case, it will probably go on.

As for organisation, the only thing that would make it more organized is stickying the voting threads. However, that is out of twinchargedfds (sp?) hands.

If you had a voting regime that you think would be better, you should suggest it to twinchargedfd (sorry i don't know your name lol). However, I think the colour sorting is great. A calendar of all red or all blue or all black, white... any colour car is boring. This gets the most variety imo.

This method is tried and tested and if you look at past years calendars, it really works well. The finished product is never anything to complain about.

This is how its been done in the past, what is your great idea Asset? You can only have 10 items in a voting/poll thread, so if I were to keep it all in 1 thread, then you'd only get a 10 month calendar, gee, that sounds great.

And with regard to professionalism, I spent more time sorting pictures and compiling voting threads than most people spent taking the pictures. In each category, there are at least 2 calendar worthy photos. I also offer these to the club with fast shipping, and cover anything that gets damaged on its way, for a much lower price than most can purchase a nice car calendar for. (40% cheaper than last year's supra club calendar by the way)

Also, winning the voting doesn't guarantee a spot in the calendar, once I close it, if there are a few really good pictures that are close in the amount of votes they received, I put them in a single poll and have a wildcard vote.

And the voting isn't scattered, its in the top level of the 3rd gen section to get the most views/votes, a sub forum would hide it. I also bump it often to keep them on the first page for at least a day once a week.

Everyone loved the end result last year, and they will this year. If you don't like it, don't buy one, its simple. Or maybe you're just upset that you won't be in the calendar?

Forum integrated polling is usually limited on its ability like that...

Thats why there are some 3rd party polling plugins that allow more than 10 items, and are ip secured which would allow you to keep it all in one thread, and also have people choose between all the photos together, rather than groups of 10.

Might be something to try next time

I run a forum locally there's ways around it, and as stated by 'got_hp'. I thought maybe one of the moderators made a devoted section for calender voting , it is representing the forum isn't it? If not then I guess all of this makes more sense if it's just something for the FD lovers to hang up in the garage. Either way if it's been working well in recent years then you have the formula right!

Is there some reason some photos were excluded?...as in (Blue 2/Black 2/etc 2.)

Group buy will be up next week after thanksgiving. Please be on the lookout for 2 wildcard voting threads. The majority of the calendar is set in line with voting, but there are quite a few really close ones (from the multiple groups), and I'll pair them up and we'll make sure we get the best pics for the calendar.

Calendar will be ready to go next week. Just working on the sponsorships now to get the cost down for everyone.

If anyone still wants to be a sponsor, please PM me, there are a couple slots still open.

That takes the fun out of it haha. I can't make the group buy until I have all the sponsors included and have the calendars actually ordered. Otherwise my cost could change and then i'd need to change the group buy price.
