the lo is actually Ro but pronounced Lo, with athe slightest r ever, confused the hell out of me the first time and the u at the end of arigatou as you wrote is actually and extended o meanning it is spelled arigatoo when done properly. Or at least thats hwo we ar taught. I thought those kanji looked familiar.

thanks for the lesson xeros, but you might want to look at my location. Not implying that I am some sort of language master or something (I'm not), but I've lived here for four years - so I've worked out the basics, lol. My instinct, when posting this sort of stuff, is to convert katakana to english (in cases where it is usage is obviously and clearly borrowed from english).

whoever taught you should have pointed out that there are several methods for romanizing japanese (the hepburn system "?" would be a third version in this example). In fact (and this is just my opinion), the version you are using is the least correct - as it inaccurately depicts the original hiragana.

anyway, that's my 2c

btw: the ro/lo pronounciation differs considerably between individual speakers and dialects - some have almost no 'ro' inflection, while the majority stray somewhere in between.

the hepburn system would be an "o" with a stroke above it (my computer isn't displaying it now)

Hahaha...no biggie. I know how it is on something you work so hard on. I was getting corrected left and right while I was in Japan.

For those of you in the US, how do you go about buying tickets for TAS? Where did you stay, would you reccomend somewhere else? Is this for consumers or vendors only?

first day is press day.

you can buy tickets at the door

I would simply recommend staying in central tokyo (for all the other fun stuff) - it's an easy train trip into chiba
