the RX-7 is suppose come out one year after the RX-8. There are already some drawing leak out to the Japanese Auto Mags. Do they have a prototype? That I don't know. Those mags didn't have anything on a prototype yet. But next gen RX-7 suppose to use more the same engine as the RX-8.

It's a shame someone like BMW didn't invest in Mazda
I would love to see the German technology be pumped into our little jewels.

From what i hear the Rx-8 is kinda getting the same reaction right now as we give it on the forum.....nice car but where the hell is the 7.

KnightSports is already making kits and performance mods for the Rx-8 but they say that the hype really isn't there.

The next gen RX-7 is in working/design process already. They just don't know they will product it or not.

Nissan is very sure about making a GT-R. But they will import it here or not is a big question mark.

Toyota is still not sure making a Supercar or next Supra. Either way they will have a Sport car. But they didn't say will it be here or not either.
In response to what you said. I don't think that Mazda has officailly starting the designing phase of the 4th gen rx7 or not. Efini is another story, but here in america we are not so lucky. What has been announced by some of the design team for Mazda already though is that they will seriously 'consider' a 4th gen based upon how the rx-8 sells. Even though neither car are related to each other at all...well scratch that...the whole purpose is to see if the rotary engine still has a loyal following . Once that has been determined. Production will pobably begin a year following sales of the rx-8. I would say that if everything goes well, we will see a 4th gen near by 2005. I would like to know point your attention to this thread...

Check out the drawing that Hedgehog made (well sketch as me puts it ). Looks pretty good.

Being Mazda I'm sure they are going to change everything we love about this car, forcing us to find new things to become attached to
This will probably be true, since if Knight tinks that it will all be good and ready by 2004. I think 2005, but that is still pushing it. So a 1.5 FD is definetely what will happen. But then again, Efini needs to push ahead the design of the 'next-gen' car to keep us with Nissan and other compeditors. You guys might not like it now, but with all things intended, it will 'grow' on you as you see them more and more everyday. Society has some wicked effects...

Maybe...but some members of the design team specifically said that the Renesis puts out enough power w/o turbos to not warrant a turboed version anytime soon. It is Mazda's goal to create a reliable rotray for more R&R . But then again, might just be a marketing plow to hit us when we least suspect it. Sure it can be tubocharhed. Can you say 350 hsp 4th gen?...

I don't think 4 gen will be a turbo. Japan is getting away from the turbo. The next GT-R will be a NA, 350Z is a NA, NSX stays a NA. Even the Toyota next gen sport car will be a NA. EVO and WRX will be the only turbo left.

BTW, 2004 is Japan release. Not US.

I highly doubt the 4th gen 7 will have twin turbo intercooled 20b, as much as we want it, we probably won't get it. Hopefully if there is a 4th gen 7 in the works or at least R&D then we will see some sign of it in a 2005 or so..

With all the money Toyota (did you know that "ota" is Japanese for "car"?) are investing in Formula One, they would HAVE to try and capitalise on it with an upper-end supercar, one would think.

Cheers,
Dave

I believe that neo has been saying that they are coming out with a higher-end super car for a while now..

Market trends, is there a possibility of the 4th gen 7 being priced to compete with such cars and the Dodge Razor, and eclipse, keeping it out of the Mustang category?

I'm very pessimistic about a 4th gen 7 coming to the states now, with the RX-8 coming I don't think there is going to be room for it.

The NSX- type R is coming out late 2003-early 2004 from what i have heard. Also, the RX-8 will supposedly have a 260 bhp platform rotary engine, and Petit Racing is already working on turbo kits and other parts designed for the new 8. I have also heard from a few magazines that the rx7 is most likely going to be a 2 door version of the 8. Just hafta wait and see.

Waiting sucks! Making the new RX-7 a saw'ed off version of the RX-8 would really be cheap blow from Mazda. They owe that car more then that.

If they make a new 7 It must be a different enough car to be considered a different car. A bastardization of the RX-8 is not what the enthusiasts in the forum are looking for. We need a true blue sports car, powered by a kick *** rotor. unique classic sporty design, sleek and powerful enough to be stamped with the heritage of the RX-7 family.
