2 problems with the 7

Well two minor problems, both I've been able to track down in the tsb, but I am unsure on how I should go about getting it fixed.

#1 S02095 JUN 95 Door Mirror - Vibration

The passenger side mirror will rattle, and I can see it rattle, and it's driving me crazy, is there are easy fix to this, a part I can order?

#2 WHISTLING NOISE FROM WINDSHIELD MOLDING

If I get above 90 or so I will get this, or when it is windy ( i work in south san fransico, so very often) and I am driving into the wind, I get a whistling noise, that is hard to pin down the location. The tsb says you can order the foam kit to fix the issue, but I am little unsure of where to apply the foam? So any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

TIA

The mirror is vibrating 'cause it's not locked all the way into the the plastic clip behind it. The plastic clip is on the motor. If it's broken, you will need to replace the motor. It could've just popped out, maybe while washing the car or something. I've never replaced the glass on one of these mirrors but, I will take a good look at mine.

O.k, looks like you're going to have to pull the glass off to get to the screws for the motor. I doubt the clip is broken so, press the glass around the area where it's loose to see if you can pop it back into the clip. You will have to press on it firmly.

I tired it here at work, gave it some pressure, it doesn't seem like it wants to go any more. Can you take it off fairly easy? I will try to do that once I am home.

I've had the same problem. You do have to take the mirror off to fix it. Mirror is held in place by glue - you have to take a heat gun and heat up the mirror, this will soften the glue and will allow you to pry the mirror out. Do not heat the mirror too long, this will melt the surrounding plastic (stop heating it if you see the plastic turn opaque, I speak from experience....hehe). Careful when prying the mirror out - it breaks easily (again from experience).

Goodluck!

Would a blow drier work? Also once off, how do I actually fix it?

It's been a while since I've done this, so if I recall correctly, the mirror is glued onto plastic panel, the panel is connected to the power mirror mechanism which pivots and moves - look for a couple of screws - typically they loosen over time from road vibrations - tightening these should solve your problem.

I suspect a blow drier may not be strong enough - but who knows, give it a try.
