1st and 2nd gear sensor?

Sup guys. Im just wondering what the 1st and 2nd gear sensor is for in a 5 speed transmission? I think thats what its called, looks like the back-up switch but a little taller and its got 4 wires coming out of it. Mine broke and I could not find a replacement part anywhere. Can I just remove it and cap the hole?

Thanks!!!

Not sure which one is damaged but the 1-2 switch tells the ecu what gear your in. Mazda found that when accelerating in 1st and 2nd gear that certain solenoids on the twin turbo charging system wouldn't react fast enough as the engine revved. So the switch was installed to speed up the solenoids reactions in those gears (basically changing the rpm activation point). If your running stock ecu and seguencials, you wanna keep those gear switches in place.

its the switch on the the upper most part the the transmission. I tried looking for a replacement part or part number in the service manual but no luck. All of the stores i called dont even know what it is lol. A part number would help alot if anybody knows it.

Yea I don't have part numbers. That 4 wire switch is on the passenger rear of the tranny correct? I have a couple of those but the wires are kinda frayed coming out of the switch.
