1999 spec conversion- Info, Pics, and $

Over the next few months this will be a project log.

I am starting with a 1993 R1 black on black. The previous owner had the car painted, installed a Cwest front bumper, and a complete 99 drive train. I want to repaint the car, install a Apexi power FC, exhaust, and bushings.

The drivetrain:
1999 Engine, turbos, wiring harness, ecu, rats nest, tranny, and diff.

Simple things:
3" DP cast, Turbo hard pipes, Petti racing SMIC, K&N intakes, Optima, Alpine 9857+ipod, 18x8 and 18x10 PIAA with KDW2's, Koyo radiator, HKS turbo timer, Automete guages. Tanabe springs.

I bought the car non running. It was not wired but complete. I was even given a brand new OEM mazda wiring harness and ECU with the car. Using the 99 rats nest and 93 wiring harness, just a few simple wiring connectors later, the car ran and drove. I am still figuring out the turbo charge system. I have no primary turbo, but I think its just a broken vacuum line.

Heres the great news. It passed Oregon emissions using a stock cat. So in this thread I will make a guide about how to install the 99 rats nest, IF possible (if not I am swapping to full 93 manifolds, wiring, sensors.)

The plan is simple:
Purchase new 99 OEM (no license plate) front bumper. Purchase 99 wing locally. Install side markers. Strip and paint the car black. Install Power FC. Have steve kan tune it in June. Install new bushings, re do interior, and tidy up the car.

Oh and for those who are wondering I am still working on a replica JL audio box

Progress is slow

I need to install my thermosensor switch for the Fans, the 99 does not have one. Fans are ECU controlled.
