Question 1993 Rx7 Turbo for $14,500?

I am in the market for a new car, and have come across a lot of 93 RX7 Turbos for around this price, while I see 95's up to $25k+, whats the deal? I love the 3rd gen body style, always have, I just know nothing about em Could someone enlighten me? is there a major HP increase? something?

There were around 13,000 93's produced and less than 600 95's. 94's and especially 95's are worth more.

no ,just more 93's. they were actually in production through 1992, so there is 2 model years worth of them. I am about to buy one that was built in feb. 92

Yeah the ones for 20k+ are probably lower miles, better condition, and a '94-'95 r1 or r2 model. Also Competition Yellow Mica color was only available in '93 on the R1 so any real CYM '93 will probably go for a bit more than a Black, Red, or other color '93. The horsepower ratings from 93-95 are the same. However 94's-95's had some of the problems that the '93 had(bad paint, etc) corrected. Another thing making 94-95 models priced a little higher.

Also you have different model 3rd gens. You have:

Base model
Touring Model
R1 model
R2 model

For more on this check out the "newbie" links at the top.

93s have a slightly different dash and gauges I think. also there were recalls on them and some 94s too, so be sure these were performed (2 in total). the very last FDs are to be built in Aug of this year, but they haven't been available to the USDM since 96 ( left over 95s). also R1s had different suspension from the 94/95 R2s I think.

Hey, I'm in the same boat as you (looking at buying an rx7). Its my understanding that there is no difference unless it is an R1 or R2. They all had 255hp 1.3l rotary twin turbo engines, two seats, and two doors.

Earlier this year I paid $20,000 for a 93 Red Touring with 20,075 original miles. Bone stock. I wanted one that hadn't been messed with yet. It's worth it to pay a little more for this car if it has fewer miles.

You guys looking into buying a 3rd Generation RX-7 should read up on them before you plunge into anything. Here are a couple of sites that should answer most of your questions.

I recommend getting VERY educated about all aspects of the FD (3rd generation, 1993 and up body style). There are alot of things you need/should know about them before you run out and buy one.

Good luck!
