Tell me, does the dealer have the sticker mislabled. Everything I've seen tells me that he's got the wrong year on it. I seem to remember reading something about the production beginning in 1992 but being label as a 93 is this correct, or have I found a rare car?

I think you are right, if you are talking about the WINDOW sticker and it says 1992 then it should be wrong. If it was a jap spec FD then it could be 1992 and still be thrid gen, but the RHD would be a dead giveaway for that. Japan usually sees just about every new design for a car about a year earlier then us.

 

Does anyone have any links to the websites that have the break down of the VIN #'s, or anything showing the difference between the 92/93's production numbers?

All US/North American fd's were officially 93's, however production started in late 91 and the Mazda started selling them in the US right after their introduction at the 92 LA auto show (Feb 1992) with the first US deliveries coming around April 1992 I believe.
Mine is a very early production car w/ a Nov 1991 Build date.
