I didn't know there was anything rare or special about the glass moonroofs. I've got one. Makes my car that much better I guess

Sorry about the cars, guys.

Wow, although I do not own a 3rd gen(I want one and will have one for my next car) this saddens me greatly. I hope all who lost their cars get fully reimburst. This just put a damper on my day, I can only imagine how the owners of those cars must feel.

Shocked!... I don't know whats worse, the emotional burning of losing a loved one or a physical burning...

Either one, there are people hurt... I hope all of you can make quick recoveries...

My deepest regrets and condolences goes out to each and everyone of you...

if i remember correctly, yours is the one on the opposite side of that FC sitting next to mine, facing out of the picture. Utah plates, loved the side skirts on it. I had just been commenting on them the saturday before.

It should be easy to pick out, my parents stopped by last night to check it out before dark, and said the cars with metal sunroofs still had sunroofs in place, but there was one what had a sunroof that was missing, must have been my glass roof. Let me tell you one thing. I would consider my fd about as "done" as they come, but every time I visited seth, there was always at least 3 or 4 other FD's that still dropped my jaw. I can only imagine what was there. Seth had some super rare project cars, an rx3 drag car that had a history, 510's, and many rotaries. When I dropped my car off from Utah, I met a guy with a really rare NA fc that was a factory lightweight. He was competing in SCCA and loved his car. Cool guy, he worked over at Dave Turner Motorsports. Seth was that good, he pulled guys from all over the nation to have work done, without any marketing. All word of mouth. 16 FD's says alot for him. If I build another FD, it will only be by him.
Dang dude, I was there the day you trailerd your car in from Utah! I remember checking it out with all the '99 spec stuff, amazing wheels etc. My car was bone stock that day. It has been into Seth's 5 times since then and is a new ride. I'd check out your car every time I was there. I can't belived how relaxed you are about all this! Anyway I'm very sorry for your loss.

Does anyone know how Seth is doing? Did his offfice get gutted too? Can he be reached by email still? Sheesh.

I have known him for 15 years and trust him with anything. His shop burned down. A complete loss. Fortunatly no one got hurt. It was an electrical issue with the building, nothing to do with his shop. My dream project just melted to the ground. 14/13" rotora brakes all the way around beautifly built r85 kit by Dee and alot of the car I credit to Allrotor93 (John). All gone. Since purchasing the car over a year ago (my second FD) I have put over $4900 in brakes, $2000 in suspension, $5000 in autronic hardware, $2000 in wheels, $2500 99 spec body and paint. With purchase ($18,000), almost $40,000 in documented receipts in less than a year (and no miles). I will post pics and update you all on how Seth is doing. If any of you have advise on how to deal with insurance companies in situations like this, let me know. I stated $18,000 insured value upon purchasing the car, now $$$$$ later, hopefully between the building owner, Seths insurance, my insurance We will all come out OK. My heart goes out to all of the rotory people that lost their cars and projects. Even if I received $40,000, I don't know if I could do anything other than an FD. I just drove a lotus exige on saturday and it almost stole my heart (not for $60,000). What are the options? Older Porsche turbo, Ariel Atom, Noble M12/400. What cars give what FD's do with their beauty, timeless styling, light weight, balance, power, and overall driving experience? I am broken hearted. My dream car almost done, and then returned to the dust it came from.
So sorrry for your loss. I saw you car there all the time. It was really coming together. Nightmare.

You can get a 2001 Porsche Turbo for slightly less than 65k. They are very easily modded to around 500HP, and are shown to handle it. That will probably be my next car. The older Porshes, the 993's, command a higher price than the newer 996's! So then you have to go even further back, at which point your RX-7 makes the older Porsches seem far less satisfying.

Two insurance companies aren't going to assign themselves 100% responsibility and then pay out twice on the same claim.

Check Autoweek classifieds and eBay. '85-on 930 is a great platform on which to build your wicked dream car if you don't do another FD.

Surely some of those FD unibodies can be saved before becoming transformed into replacement front or rear clips at the wrecking yards.

Wow, that is horrible. I suffered a total loss fire with one of my other cars. What's worse is that it was a saturday night, the authorities were busy, so I could do nothing but sit and watch it burn - $35k into nothing. I feel for anyone who had their car there. Maybe something good will come out of it after all. I wouldn't even have my FD if that other car hadn't burned. So maybe this is life trying to steer you in a different direction? Good luck with the claims.

This really, really sucks! I'm just glad no one got hurt. I'm assuming this was a middle-of-the-night fire and no one was around to see the fire when it first started so that the fire department could've gotten there earlier before everything was engulfed? Sorry about your loss..and Seth's to.

Very Tragic. I think my FD was the last one to leave Seth's shop before the fire. I got lucky.

He did great work and is a really nice guy. My car is running GREAT.

My heart goes out to the owner, employees and all those who lost their cars.

I'm sure it's a terrible loss to the shop and car owners. My sympathies go out to you all. At least no one was hurt.
