100 Octane Leaded Gas OK ?

Anybody know if it would be ok to run 100 octane leaded gas in my fd ?
I found a place near my town that has it at a good price but noticed it was "leaded"
My Mods if it matters:
race port
3mm seals
DP, MP, CB
Intake
PowerFC
FMIC
AEM Ignition
1300cc Sec.
Supra Pump
14psi

Other than fouling up your o2 sensor/wideband sensor, no. It's odd to see 100 leaded, usually 100 is unleaded and leaded is 110+.

That is kinda strange. Here in Charlotte, NC (Nascar Central) you can buy 100 octane "racing gas" at the pump, but it is still unleaded. Sonoco used to sale leaded "racing gas" but with today's strick emissions standards, and given the fact of what its does to an 02 sensor, I doubt anyone is going to carry it "at the pump"

Are you talking about avgas (100LL)? The only harm will be what rynberg already said.

Leaded gasoline will destroy your catalytic converter!! (Unless there have been some major design changes in cats lately.)

No, that is aviation fuel only available at airports (it contains lead). I'm referring to Sonoco GT 100 (which is probably close to 100LL) available at the pump. It has an octane rating of 104 (R+M)/2. (RON is 109 for Europe guys). According to Sonoco's website, this is a street legal racing fuel that contains no metallic compounds to damage 02 sensors (i.e. no lead). So, I was mistaken about the "leaded gas at the pump from Sonoco." The lead in the fuel is really what gives the performance edge vs. unleaded racing gas because of the difference in the combustion properties. It will destroy 02 sensors and catalytic converters, though.

I work at the airport and (I hope I dont get reported to the FAA) I have ben selling this stuff to teens in the area for a long time now without any serious harm to their cars.
regardless of what Sunoco and AeroShell say, it will mess up your catylitic and in most cases your O2 sensors, not the same way that 100LL would but primairly through the increased heat that is produced.

We have one kid that comes down all the time and fills his thunderbird SC with it and some enthanol...

If you have a preformance exhaust, test pipe and advanced timing, dont worry about it.

Would the effects be the same on a metallic cat? Sorry, I'm not up-to-par on that technology.

Mmm, and it smells so good...!
Seems to be running great other than turning the inside of my muffler grey, I assume that's from the lead or does all higher octane fuel burn that way ?

Yes, higher octane fuels will leave a grayish-whitish residue rather than black...

Sunoco GT 100

There's a Sunoco in Pittsburgh that sells it from the pump as well...however, with all the oil crap that's been going on, don't know how much it costs. When 94 was about $1.75, the GT 100 ran for about $4.75 a gallon. Just an FYI in case anybody in the area is looking.

(Almost as much as 87 nowadays.)
