1 rotor Running?

So yesterday I went full throttle in 3rd once like I've done many times before, although this time was different. At around 6500rpm ish I had a sudden loss of power. I looked in my mirror and there wasn't any smoke that I could see. I pulled over and it was obvious it was running on one rotor only. I look at the vacuum lines and nothing was disconnected. So i restart the car and it fires up instantly only on one rotor again and now wreaks of gas.

I get the car home, pull the plugs and see the rear rotor plugs have fouled, so I replace them with new spare ngk 9s I had, check all vacuum lines again (none disconnected) checked the electrical connections and see that everything should be good to go. So I start the car and it instantly fires up again but still only on 1 rotor.

I shut it down, and pull the trailing plug on the rear rotor to do the quick poor man's compression check and it goes woosh ...... ...... woosh. As opposed to my front rotor going woosh woosh woosh. Im assuming it's time for a rebuild? Hopefully not but I just can't get that rear rotor to fire.

for reference the car is a 95 FD, single GT35r stock port motor. Fuel filter is fresh, plugs, injectors, and tune have all been done a few months ago and it has ran well up until now.

Sounds like a blown apex seal. Get a cheap compression tester to be sure but I'd say with 99.9% certainty that you'll need a rebuild.

Yep, sounds like you lost an apex seal. Sorry to hear that!

As stated, do a compression test to verify. You don't need a fancy rotary engine tester, just a regular compression tester will do. 3 even pulses means happy apex seals, 1 strong pulse with 2 weak or no pulses means broken seal.

It's an opportunity to make the car even better, think of it that way!

Thanks for the fast reply you guys. I kinda figured it was that I will do a compression check and go from there.
