1. remove ignition related fuse (not sure what it is on the 3rd gen)
2. remove leading plug from the front
3. crank motor
4. note sound
5. replace plug. repeat for rear rotor.

do you strong constant even whooshes?

if you get one strong and two weak whooshs, you lost a seal
two strong whooshes and a weak one is a side seal.

this is the fastest way to see if you killed the motor.

Same thing just happened to me. Driving the car normally, and then one rotor goes to ****. No compression on the front rotor on all three faces. I just pulled the engine and looking into the exhaust port, apex seals look fine. I guess I'll have to pull the whole motor apart to figure it out.
Another thing to check is the coil packs. One of them might have gone...

Let me know what your problem ends up being

OK story continued.... First thing... i tryed to take comp of the front rotor, nothing happend ... so all apexes on that rotor where blasted away. Last rotor had 8.5 in comp... so its new and all good.

Reason to this ****..... bougth ready mapped PowerFc "should have never trusted the basic map on it", my car had too little fuel on ideling "grey catback indicated that it have had too litle gas" and my sparkplugs where grey.

And my car is a 1994 mod R2 with only 26000 KM on it.

0,8 boost, safe level. The map on the PowerFc was starving my engine "too little fuel"! I got the pfc from rx7store... i told him to map it for 98 octane and with catback and open filter. turbos are fine and everything is good except first rotor. Well shitt happens i guess, ive learned one thing and that is always get it mapped on a bench with pro's.

i didnt do a ****... just installed like the manual says.

Mail order tuning is spotty regardless of who/where it comes from. BUT, power fc comes mapped for minor mods, intake/dp/cb. If you really are running the equivalent of US 98 octane, you should have been fine with the base map

How do you know your engine was 'starved for fuel?' also, you will have to disassemble the stock twins to thoroughly inspect the turbines. If you blew all 3 seals on one rotor, you may have damage that you can't see with the turbos still together.

i got lucky the apexes didnt come thru my turbos. I got know all apexes are broken because i couldent even read comp from the rotor, it didnt even give alitle puls of air. And the spark plugs are grey" over heated" and my exhaust is grey "too little fuel" . I got one rotary/tuning specialist to check it and he told me the same thing. Well shitt happens, Now ill raceport it and change my brakes and coilover kit at the same time. And all other little parts like vacuumhoses.
