Thumbs up 1.5 yrs and the single turbo setup is finished.

Well guys, I can't beleive it. I started in early summer the year before last, and finally, the single turbo setup is finished and completed. There have been so many times that I just wanted to hit/kick/sell the car....but today, I can say that this portion of the project is complete. It all started with me getting a good deal on a SR stage II single setup, and figuring it would take no more than 3 months to complete. Man, was I wrong. It was running last fall/early winter, but it was'nt running correctly once it came off the dyno. At this point, I pulled the engine bay wiring harness, rewired it and removed all non needed wires. Swapped coils, CASs, plugs, wires, air temp sensors, pulled out the AC, pulled out the PS, swapped injectors out, fuel pressure regulators, etc. Ended up being a bad water temp sensor. That was very frustrating....during this time, I bought a Datalogit, laptop, and a LM-1 to help figure out the problem. Just yesterday I finished the tuning on my car and it has never felt so good to drive a car that I've put so much time, blood and sweat into. The car feels awesome, and pulls smoothly to 8k rpms without so much of a hickup.

Next for the car is to replace the bushings that need it. With 50k miles on them, they clunk and chatter at the smallest bump. I have no idea what I'm up against, but in the coming days I'll be using the search button alot. After that, I'm thinking its time for some wheels and tires, and lower it just a hair. I realy like the look of a stock FD, (Like mine.) but I just want a larger version of the stock wheel.....but anyways, I have plenty of time to pick out a set that I feel will match my FD perfectly. There will allways be little things, like ceramic coating the dp, powerder coating stuff etc....but the major job is finished.

I'd like to thank everyone who has been such a big help with trouble shooting and giving me advice with the car. First, and realy, the biggest help was Ralph Friend of Groundzero. I would'nt doubt it, if I've spent 10+hrs on the phone, and 6hrs on the dyno with him over this project. He has been a great friend and help to me. Not to mention, he realy did tune my car to 90% (until we started having problems on the dyno.)...then coached me the rest of the way, once the problems where solved. Next is Rob Golden of Pineapple. When I've bought stuff through him, I realy feel he's has my best intrest in mind. I gave him my power goals, and he's hooked me up with deals, and solid advice. Anouther person, that realy helped a ton was a local guy named Dominic or Dom. I'm shure he has enough parts for a FD to put a couple together! He without hesitation let me borrow any and every part I needed. There are others like turbojeff or Jeff H, Maxcooper, Ari and Rockey...and a bunch more I can't even think off who've helped along the way too. I just want to say thanks guys. I realy appreciate everything you guys have done.

I hope someday I can give back to the rotary community like these guys have.

CJ

Ok, I'm finished with my ramblings....but I'm just so darn happy everything has come together!!

I'll get some pictures tonight. On low boost it dyno'd (12psi) 340@6,500/288ft lbs@6000, and high boost it (16lbs) made 392rwhp/331ft lbs@5,500. This was a mustang dyno, so it reads lower than a dyno jet. I'll realy happy with the numbers for a stock motor with 50k miles. CJ

Cool! Congrats. I am still ironing out small things on my single conversion, seems to be the hardest part of the project.

Pics!

Thats awsome man, glad you got it finished after so much down time. Be careful running those power levels on a stock motor though

Sorry Jeff, I won't be able to make it. I'm a big fisherman, and there are only so many more weekends until the fall chinook are gone. I do have the AC parts, let me know what you want.

A little fishy I recently caught. Last weekend, I nailed a couple more, and the bigest was a 41" buck. Largest to date was a 45" hen that I released. I keep only what my wife and I can use, and the rest go back to finish their life cycle.

BTW, how do you get pictures just to show up? I tried doing the [IMG] around the attachmentts...but with no luck..

CJ

If anyone of you guys want a paticular picture, let me know.

Hey Ralph, I figure I'll just cap off the wastegate, and see what the turbo will pull.

If anyone wants a certain picture or has a question feel free to ask. CJ
