1/4, first time at the track

Went today on one of those run what you brung type days at California Speedway in Fontana.

First time at the track, .80 bar boost, big heavy 18" rims, spinning all the way through 1st and 2nd gear.

cruser 12-15-02 03:43 PM

Which lane were you in?

GsrSol 12-15-02 03:45 PM

14.8 not bad :)

That's a pretty good mph for that time.

black99 12-15-02 03:48 PM

Yeah I take it you were in the right lane? Still not bad for being on 18" Blitz wheels.

rx7raca 12-15-02 03:51 PM

wut lane? i hope you didnt run a 14.8, even with big rims that is kinda bad IMO, maybe im wrong...
geoff

Brentis 12-15-02 03:52 PM

Dude - sorry I was thinking he was in the left. 14.8????? wtf! I think a integra type r does that. Personally I don't think that is good with 40lbs of wheels weight or not.

Pouya 12-15-02 03:55 PM

You can definately get that E.T down a lot, 2.2 60 foot time is killing your E.T. Honestly though, that isn't that bad Teddy for your first time out. :) Your clutch makes the car a little tricky to launch, like an on/off switch. Probably either ngrabs like a bitch or bogs. 114.3mph trap speed is good for what - 350-360bhp?

twinturboteddy 12-15-02 03:59 PM

Uhm guys, i was in the left lane....

12.843@114.43mph

i changed the image on the original post.

fd3virgin 12-15-02 04:51 PM

what are your mods.

oh thank god man :D you scared me

xstacy7 12-15-02 05:39 PM

Hey teddy, I got my parts all packed up and ready to ship to you for some polishing, can you tell me where to send them. By the way - Good 1/4 mile time

black99 12-15-02 07:10 PM

12.8? Oh well that's tons better and great for your first time at the track and on 18" wheels. Nice run.

Snook 12-15-02 08:10 PM

wow dude you have a lot of horsepower.

what do ya think around 350 at the wheels?

what mods?

I can just imagine if your 60 foot was 2.0 you would be in the real low 12s

is .8 bar 12 or 13 psi?

I remember the first time I went I got a 13.5 @ 105.3 at stock boost with stock cat, dp, cb, intake, and mild streetport with the pettit ecu. 2.204 60 foot time so im wondering what I would run now with the midpipe and 13 psi

VERY GOOD JOB I'M HAPPY FOR YA

my car is down so this excites me again!

11.6 psi.

Nice run Teddy. Very strong trap speed too. :bigthumb:

GsrSol 12-15-02 08:20 PM

I would guess about 320rwhp and with a good run you could probably hit a 14.3 urrr I mean 12.3

Rx-Revin 12-15-02 11:28 PM

What are your mods TTT

twinturboteddy 12-16-02 12:10 AM

no cats, intercooler, pfc, intake, street port. that's about it.

Astro 12-16-02 01:35 AM

nice nice
impressive tedsta

Dan 12-16-02 04:11 AM

Dont_Be_A_Rikki 12-16-02 08:01 AM

True True... A friend of mine had BFG DragRadials on his FD and destoyed his diff at the track.

twinturboteddy 12-16-02 09:38 AM

My R/T's are pretty bad =( I got it better though maybe .700 But the 12.8@114mph run was still my best time even with that bad R/T and bad 60' and was my first run

Man, I saw 2 FD's blow their rear ends on the track at the same time launchign  last year.

On this run, I had half a tank of crappy kalifornia brand 91 Gas on .80 bar boost. I upped the boost to .90 on the 2nd and 3rd runs but all i did was spin all the way down the freagin track. Serious, I spun all the way until maybe 70mph where it hooked up.

I'm going to beg Waysho to let me borrow her stock rims one day and buy some drag tires and make another attempt.

I'm getting hooked!!!!

twinturboteddy 12-16-02 09:54 AM

What's a good brand and size for a tire for drag racing that will fit on stock rims?

Or better yet, what's a good rim for drag racing?

SPOautos 12-16-02 10:00 AM

stock wheels with BFG's or Nittos either one.

Do a big ass burn out till you have smoke at your window.

Tach it up to about 5000rpms

run about 15psi of tire pressure with the drag radials.

You should cut some 1.8x 60 foot times which will knock your ET down to about 12.2

Turn the boost up to about 1 bar and you'll be running 11's before you know it

STEPHEN

5inchfatlip 12-16-02 10:14 AM

TTT- Good job---BUT you only have 1 FULL sec. to catch me- ahahhahahahah!!!!!!
you forgot to mention your FMIC....

also- I hope you dont get hoooked on this, you need to start road racing with me...then you will he hooked!!!

twinturboteddy 12-16-02 10:23 AM

I'm hooked!!

What was your time and trap on the NSX anyway. 11.7?@???

Steve, what size BFG drag radial should I put on a stock rim.

RX7 RAGE 12-16-02 10:39 AM

nice runs teddy. :)

ttpowerd 12-16-02 10:46 AM

I have 225/50 16's (nitto 555r) on the rear of my car...very nice :D

SPOautos 12-16-02 11:11 AM

If you get the BFG, its a odd size but they will fit. Its like a 255/50 or something like that.

You can have them... Ill just take the Z1s :D

You will not blow your diff running those tires and 13psi they will absorb the impact before the diff. I did it all season and still have a stock diff:eek:.

-Rikki

5inchfatlip 12-16-02 12:47 PM

TTT- you owe me to come up to Willow in February...trap speed was about 120mph in 4th gear due to the gearing....

BTW- I have some Kumho VictoRacers in 16" size if you want to buy them for your next run...they are slick and will stick!

xstacy7 12-16-02 12:53 PM

TTT, I pm'd you

Stephen

why not just get ET streets which will yield better 60' time and easier on the suspension

twinturboteddy 12-16-02 02:20 PM

Someone tell me the difference (or examples) between

slicks
drag radials
ET streets

RTS3GEN 12-16-02 08:43 PM

Slicks are full slick, very soft and sticky compound once they are heated up. They also have a very soft sidewall to allow excellent bite and traction.
ET Streets are a very soft compound and are grooved, but they aren't as sticky as the full slicks. The grooves allow them to be rated as DOT legal to drive on public streets. And the sidewalls are also very similar to a full slick(acts like a slingshot when the tire begins to coil up upon acceleration)
Drag Radials are basically a radial tire with a one or two ply sidewall, this mimics a slick and et street somewhat, but the shorter sidewall doesn't give nearly as much, and thus isn't as effective at coil up. There is also a very soft highway compound road tire surface. Not as sticky as an ET Street, and not anywhere near as sticky as a full slick. But great for a daily driver that is going to do a little stop light charading.
Hope that clears it up a little.

rynberg 12-17-02 01:01 AM

That was a good run TTT, especially for your first trip to the track (and with bling bling wheels no less).

Don't worry about the reaction time. You could launch five minutes after the green light drops and you run the same E.T. as if you cut a perfect light. It has nothing to do with E.T. The timer starts when your front wheels roll out of the second staging beam.

RX7-2JOCK 12-17-02 10:24 AM

Great times teddy !! On any of your runs, for launching, did you ever try the E-brake trick ??

SPOautos 12-17-02 10:39 AM

Yea you can get some ET streets but they arent a street friendly as a drag radial. You can drive your drag radials just like any other tire, Dont get me wrong while you can drive them in the rain its by NO means anything close to a rain tire so be VERRYYYYY carefull if you get cought out in the rain with them. I wouldnt drive anywhere except maybe to the track on a set of ET streets.

I drove all week on a set of BFG's one time cause I was too lazy to take them off.

That is why I suggested Drag radials, you can drive them more (like to the street races lol )

Later,
STEPHEN

U mean holding the e-brake and slipping the clutch to build a little boost while sitting at the line???

The first time back to the track after I got my Mid pipe I broke my differential and had to be towed 2 hours to get home at like 1 AM. that was one of the worst experiences I ever had..

Sitting in the...reving it...Launching it only to move a few feet and hear a loud shroud and then...."Click..Click...Click".... And the roar of the crowed was nice too. They love to clap and laugh whent that happens.

5inchfatlip 12-17-02 01:22 PM

yep- the crowd LOVES when something brakes and especially when SMOKE comes out of somewhere...
