*Pics* Relocated relay box.

In an effort to further clean up my engine bay and make room for wrenches... I moved the relay box from the front of the car to where the battery would sit.. A small battery would still fit, but the battery tray (OEM) mounting is compromised. My battery resides in the rear bin anyway... Pretty simple. Cut wires, pulled them to the driver side (Extended the 3 that ran the other way) soldered, covered and hid them. Made a polished aluminum bracket to hold the box and mounted it raised with a dampner from the old radiator mount (see pic #2)

Comments welcome.

Not bad, I like it. Are the lower pictures taken after the first two. If not then did you clean up the wiring? IE: putting electrical tape or something over the wires.

Right now it's still stock... Adding a fan. I'll see how it works and if it's not cooling enough I'll upgrade it..

How did you modify the engine to adapt to the -an fittings on the hose? I am attempting this mod myself and could use some info?

Thanks

No modification needed. Just adapters.

You'll need (2) 18mmx1.5 to 10AN adapters.

IF YOU ARE KEEPING THE A/C: You'll need (1) XRP brand TIGHT 90 degree 10AN female to male, pn#920510 (from front cover adapter) and
(1)10AN female to male adapter (for above fitting, allows for more clearance in front cover region). This will clear the AC compressor. Otherwise you'll have fitment issues. I don't have A/C, so the problem isn't there...

If your're A/C-less like me, no need to really worry about fitment. I went with a 90 degree -10 swivel for the oil filter pedestal and a 45 on the front cover.

The adapters for the oil cooler are 22mmX1.5 to -10AN. Included are the o rings..

You can get ALL the parts needed from www.batinc.net. No online order, but the # is on the page. VERY GOOD BUSINESS TO DEAL WITH!!!

I can post more pictures of the install if you need. I think the -10 line from the front cover to the oil cooler was 27" and the line from the cooler to the filter pedestal was 47"... I can look for ya.

Very nice! Looking good! Almost there. When you say you cut the wires and extended the 3 that went the other way,....Did you just split open the main harness up front and pull the wires over, or cut all the relay wires and extend them all? Great idea! I've always hated having that thing in the way!!!

I split the main harness and cut the three that ran to the passenger side. Then I pulled all the ones over to the driverside that ran that direction.. I did end up cutting them because I couldn't handle it (Mentally) to have 18 inches of slack balled up somewhere... I then extended the 3 that didn't reach... But that was easy. I haven't had the chance to check, but the 3 that DON'T run to the driver side *MIGHT* be the wires for the air pump... Which many of us don't have... There may not even be reason to run the extra wires... I'll have to look when I get home.

No problem. I mounted mine vertically to tuck into the area in front of my ASP Racing large intercooler, since I'd already installed my Crane HI-6 in the location you used.

Please pardon the image quality. All my older pictures are scans of 35mm prints taken with a P.O.S. camera.

Jim,

Looks as if you also modified the box for the positive battery terminal the same way I did... Or, the other way around I should say. I must have missed all these pics the first time around Again, great pics! Thanks.

i got you all beat. i eliminated my relay box. i figured why do i need this big ol box to hold 3 relays. so i just made a little mount for the 3 relays that holds then in front of the crossmember.
