$25K and an FD. What are the possibilities?
OK.....as soon as I have $25K saved up.....my choices of cars are in my sig.. There is just something there about the FD3S. Just as there was something about my 88 SE. OK.....what kind of FD could I own w/the money I'm talking about? Minus the price for the car from the $25K and let me know what you think. Buy one w/a blown motor for around $7K(or whatever they are going for) or buy a decent one for around $15K(or whatever they are going for). I'm not looking for a strictly anything car(drag, road course). Thanks people.
Will
P.S. Please give me the lowdown on both situations...buying one w/a blown motor and a decent one. Thanks.

After buying mine and the motor going out anyway (fifth motor of this car!), I prefer the blown motor approach. If you could find one with one owner, that wasn't ragged out, and also try to buy one from a more northern state. I'm assuming you live in Nevada which can get pretty hot. The reason I say this is because I bought mine in San Antonio TX. When I replaced my motor I had to replace the wiring harness as well (about $1100) the extreme texas heat combined with the already high temps of a turbocharged rotary engine with poor cooling design took its toll. Find a reputable rotary builder, I didn't do my research here. I chose Hayes........some of you know what i'm talking about. I've got 4000 miles on it with no problems yet, but I have my doubts. I hear Atkins Rotary is a good shop. This is what I would do:
car............................................... .......$7000
rebuild + install and other parts.........$7000
stand alone ECU.................................$2500
exhaust, midpipe, downpipe...............$1000
fuel pump + injector upgrade..............$1000
intercooler and radiator upgrade........$2000
cold air intake......................................$500
single turbo upgrade...........................$4000
Of course this is a rough estimate but gives you a basic idea of how far 25K could get you. And I did realize I said to buy one that had a good harness and then put down "stand alone ECU" on the list, which would throw away the stock harness anyway unless going with the PFC. I think its still a good idea though.

$25K is a nice chunk of change... And since you live in freaking Nevada you dont have to worry about driving the car around in the snow and ice in the winter time like people in the midwest. Bah... I say find a nice FD, and with that kind of money you should be able to find a few around, but you will have to be willing to travel for the right car maybe...
An ITR or RSX Type S isnt a bad choice either. My brother has a 00 Type R and it is one very fun car to work out. And I had a chance to drive a RSX Type S this week aswell. Best transmission I have ever driven. Either way all the cars you have listed you cant go wrong.

I'll agree that it's better driving out here than in the midwest from a climate perspective.

You should come back and take a drive on the Michigan roads again... Some potholes over here can swallow FDs... Man our roads suck...

Never heard of Donner pass? It's where the pioneers were trying to get through the mountain passes and they were snowed in. Had to resort to cannibalism to survive....
Yeah, I make it back to Michigan a couple of times a year to visit friends and family. Roads are terrible but the overall level of driving skill and etiquette are 10x better. California drivers are both idiots and ********.
