I would expect that temp to be higher during driving conditions as the dp is being super heated and not really allowed time to cool off.

lol why would someone pay 72 bucks for a fuel filter when off the top of my head i can think of like 4 sites that will sell the OEM fd fuel filter for under 30 bucks.

About the gasket? When things are hard to come by, thats when sellers see an opportunity to make money cause if its a hard item to get, and you really need it, you WILL spend the money to get it. Think about it, do you think that gasket is really 100 bucks? It prob cost 3 bucks to make. lol

Im experimenting with a carbon over stainless mesh material that I cut from a sheet 0.0625" thick (McMaster/Carr product). So far it has held up with no problems using it on my Nissan header pipe for a month. The material is rated at very high pressure and very high temps. I cut one for the downpipe the other day and will be installing it on my car this week. Will post results of testing. The sheet from McMaster cost about $21 shipped and is 12" x 12". They also have a 0.125" thick sheet for about $32. probably $36 shipped.

The gaskets that come with the inexpensive downpipes are much cheeper and of very poor quality compared to the oem ones. They blow out pretty quickly.

How about graphite?

http://www.phelpsweb.thomasregister....5/phel3_12.htm

Someone here on the forum was using them to make gaskets for single-turbo exhaust components.

Here we go:
