xforce varex muffler on an FD

has anyone used one of these varex mufflers on an FD before?

a friend of mine had one on his WRX and it was really nice.

here's an old youtube video of a guy with a first gen half bridge and it seems like it works very well:

I just put In my order, got the dual tip 3 inch inlet. I had it on my supra, dead silent when closed and pretty loud when open. I've read people worry that the heat would ruin the valve... I honestly think it will. Might be a good idea to spray the motor housing, butterfly valve, and maybe the entire muffler with some heat repellent paint if you are worried about heat damage.

I'll definitely make a post about it.

Not going to lie they are heavy, I remember when I got mine for the supra it weighed more than the HKS dragger exhaust even though it was just the muffler itself (no pipe from the muffler to the mid pipe, you have to make one or get someone to make one).

With that said its well worth its weight, the ability to go from dead silent to "straight pipe" loudness is great.

I would be interested in seeing a dyno with the valve closed and opened on 3'' 3.5'' and 4'' ...I have a feeling you will loose some power when the valve is closed.
