I can't see the value in this. For folks with irreplaceable vintage vehicles, this isn't a problem (garage queens that would NEVER be parked with the plebes). Also, this would affect the "correctness" of the build.
So then is comes down to the security aspect. Maybe if your FD is your only car, and parked on the street in a bad neighborhood and you're worried about your battery, this is a good thing for you. That scenario is probably as unlikely as the first, though.
My conclusion, in either case, is that this is a solution to a problem that doesn't exist.

I think it's value is for people who want the safety/stability of hood pins but don't like the look of hood pins. I personally don't.

Yeah that's really cool. I don't like the look of hood pins either, but if you have a carbon or fiberglass hood you should really be using them. I have seen high quality carbon hoods rip the oem style latch off and fold back, destroying the windscreen AND completely destroying the roof of the vehicle. Wonder how hard it is to adapt to an FD.
