Unhappy Where To Service Rotary Engine In 2025

There is a RHD 1993 RX7 R1 in the family and I am the family member in charge of getting the vehicle prepped for sale and eventually selling it. It is currently with my grandfather (owner) in Colorado, and I am in BC, Canada. I have been searching online both around him and around my area and have not found any reputable Rotary repair shops still in business...

I know that the car is going to need the coolant seals replaced (if not a full housing) and likely a fair bit more, to be in the condition we would like to see it in. Who can I contact that still works on these? Open to having it brought up here to Canada or shipping somewhere in the States, but don't even know where to start.

TYIA for any input!

There are a handful of companies I would trust currently, that if I were shipping from Colorado I would consider.

One in Canada REC. https://rotaryengine.com/ Adam is a really good guy/well known. It looks like its quite far away from BC.
Banzai Racing in Indiana. https://www.banzai-racing.com/store/contact_us.html
Phalanx Performance local to me. https://phalanxperformance.com/. Ernie is about 20 minutes away from me, great guy to work with. Honest and fair. I personally know people that have done full services builds/installs with him.

I can keep an eye on the car if you go with my local company, but any of these would be a good choice.

How do you know it needs new coolant seals?

Nice mission you have here! Finding a good shop for a 13B becomes complicated, but there are still some specialists. In North America, Lucky 7 Racing (California) and Defined Autoworks (Ohio) are references. If you want to stay in Canada, Rotary Motion in Ontario could be an option. If not, Mazdaspeed Motorsports could direct you to a good workshop. Transporting the car is worth it if you want a reliable repair. Good luck with the sale !

Yeah. Give Adam of RX7Specialities a call.

You could have the motor pulled and shipped to him by ground freight.
