The official 'My FD3S' picture thread. READ THE RULES!
The car has been developed for circuit racing and tarmac rallying with extend port engine, JDM RS turbos, MoTeC engine managment and datalogging and the list goes on.
In my job I get to work with the team that developed the RX-7 SP and although mine isn't a real SP it uses as lot of genuine components and the design ideas that were developed for the three SP race cars but never saw the SP road cars... buying a genuine SP is on my list, but only as a road car as they are too special to risk and they are very hard to buy as they rarely change hands and many have been destroyed over the years.
The company that produced the genuine Mazda carbon fibre SP body and engine parts will actually make any of the carbon parts by order directly these days as Mazda have run out of stock, so its not that tricky to get the look, but the parts arn't cheap.

Hey Eddie... care to tell us where you purchased that red anodized cover for your brake fluid reservoir?
Its HAYES rotary. They were a popular NW shop back in the day. Not sure if they are still around or not...
Mefarri.... how did you come to purchase Jim's car? Was it advertised here? Did you contact him directly and tell him "If you ever decide to sell her"?
"hates rotary" lol ironic plate cover given that it never ran under any other power than a rotary lol... and the 'catch me if you can'... ha ha what is slower than going 0 to 0 mph in 12 years lol but crazyness... Jim finally let her go. I've been in the forums since 1999 (before the hack of 2001) and I don't ever remember Jim's car ever running. Congrats as gmonsen said: THAT is a great roller.

mefarri... Jim was and is a bit, ur, eccentric at best and went from one very nice rotary powered FD to building the world's most expensive never-to-be-completed V8 powered FD. So, you inherited a great roller. Maybe one of the best in the country. It would really be a shame to convert it to a V8. Despite my many issues with Jim over the years, his engineering knowledge and money and need for perfection resulted in your having a near perfect car. It needs a 20b or at least a decent single turbo. You seem as though you are leaning toward the V8. Step back. Wait a bit and just think about it before you start ordering parts for the V8 conversion. Just think about it.

How I came to owning it was really lucky on my part. Jim didn't list it here for obvious reasons, but he did over on Norotors. I contacted him about buying some parts off of it (0 mile Zeal coilovers, completely polished suspension pieces with all new pillowballs and superpro bushings etc) and he made me an offer to buy the whole car that I couldn't refuse. So I put my 93 hardtop roller I had up for sale, took a hit on it, and bought Jim's car. I had no intention of buying this car but for the few people who know what I paid for it, I woulda kicked my own *** if I didn't buy it. Btw, the NADA value for a completely stock car was almost 20k.

Per the rules.
One of my guest rooms right now.

If you saw the car in person, It'd be hard to say it wasn't the cleanest FD you could hope to find right now. He went as far as buying a new coolant reservoir, heat shields etc. It will be getting a v8 with a turbo. End of story. My friend's have rotaries and I know you can make them fast/somewhat reliable but since I'm starting from scratch, I'm going with the engine that makes more power at WAY less boost (shooting for 800whp at under 15 lbs on a 76mm), more torque off idle than most 13b's make at peak, gets 30+ mpg highway, and is dead reliable all the time. AND doesn't cost any more $ to upgrade and parts are readily available everywhere. And doesn't give up the weight balance. And... A bunch of other positives.
