SC New speedometer troubleshooting on 3rd gen

Recently got my hands on a 93 FD with no working ODO, Tach, or Speedo. Saw the threads on here regarding bad capacitors and installed a brand new speedometer because the original's board was thoroughly fried. The tach works great now and the odo display now works as well, but the odo is not counting and the speedo is not moving. I figure that either the speed sensor on the trans is no good or the cluster is not receiving a signal from it and was wondering if there are any common issues that I could start with checking, as I'm weak regarding electronic troubleshooting. I've got a multimeter but am honestly not even sure how to check if my sensor is good or if the connection to the cluster is good. Any suggestions would greatly appreciated. And if you guys have reason to think it might be a different issue altogether I would appreciate being steered in the right direction.

Additional info if it helps, the lighting for the gauges is not working. My turn signals and warning lights are, but the gauges themselves are not backlit. The schematics I've seen make me think it's unrelated but I don't know if I'm reading them correctly.

For the lighting, make sure the dash dimmer isn't turned all the way down. Been there, done that. Or that it's plugged in!

The speedo circuit is relatively basic and really doesn't typically act up. I'd find the speedo sensor on the trans and make sure it's plugged in and has a good connection first.

Thanks Dale! Checked under the trans and the wire going into the speedo sensor was mangled. Fixed the wire this morning and now the speedo is working great and the odometer is counting. I really appreciate you helping me out.
