David,

You always know how to grab my attention! I'm surprised that I missed this conversation between you and Andreas last month. I agree with you, contact the manufacturer for a sequencer and instructions. If that request falls on deaf ears then start testing wires.

Milo,

Do these wires have connectors at the opposite ends or not? I'd like to know: why are there so many black wires coming out from the lens assemblies? It seems to be an opposite thinking of using a common ground and controlling each segment with a positive wire (red in this case?). Maybe the bunch of black wires are used to setup the sequencing lights, as David proposed?

I also see screws on the backside of the lens assembly. Unless it is a sealed unit, which it should be to keep rain and condensation out, can the back shell be removed to expose the LED board and wire connections? CAUTION: Use this as a last resort to determine wire configuration. Otherwise, the water-tight integrity of the lens will be compromised and cause leaks.

Please keep us posted on your research and either of us may offer better advice.

Unfortunately I have no way to contact the manufacturer ,

it is a custom made one I bought on yahoo auction.jp...

regarding all the wires: there are no connectors attached to them...

There are only numbers attached to the 8 black wires (on each wire) : going from 1 to 8...

I am pretty sure the 8 black wires are for the turn signal sequence ...

the unit is sealed ...

Milo,

Can you contact the seller from the auction site? Maybe they have some instructions? The video was cool to see the tail lights in action. But, I didn't see the 3rd brake light work. You may also have to figure out how the 3rd brake light connects to this circuit too.

I have sent an email ,
will see...

the 3rd brake light is easy , only two wires , black and red.

If anyone has a clue how to set up a 8 steps sequential box...

Thanks again!

Milo,

That tail light system you have may use a specific light sequencer. I believe David may have mentioned it previously?

Hopefully you'll get a response. I posted earlier that you need to test each wire to determine what it controls. Without a response from the seller with instructions, this is the only way you'll know what controls what. It's a pretty easy process to accomplish - you can hook up a positive wire and a negative wire to your battery if you don't have a better way. Read my earlier post and then go test the wires and write down the results. Once you have this info, you can then take the next step of finding a sequencer box to control the lights.

Alternatively, to use the lights in a more simple way, test the wires to see what controls the 1) parking lights, 2) brakes, and 3) turn signals. Connect these and don't worry about the more elaborate sequencing feature.
