Question Mazda OEM Flying M key Blanks

Anyone remember these guys?

Mazda OEM Flying M Key Blank FD3S - RHDJapan

FDNewbie had a GB many years and I bought one.

Can anyone do another group buy or are these dead nowadays? I checked RHDjapan and with shipping it will cost $52 Canadian.. Ouch..

It's a nice upgrade from the toilet bowl icon

I REALLY wish there was a US version of that key. Sadly the later JDM FD was the only car to get that key blank. It's also nice that it's shorter, the stock key is stupid long.

May be worth contacting RHD Japan and seeing if they can do a cheaper shipping option, like sending a small envelope or something. Or, get a number of local guys together and buy a number of parts from them and split shipping, we've done that here in Pensacola before.

Honestly, I remember years ago getting one and having it cut for my brother's FD and it didn't come out very well---- only started the car when inserted one way, and it felt way too tight in the lock cylinder. Enough issues that he ended up not using it. IIRC, I even had it cut at a 'real' locksmith as well, vs Home Depot/Walmart etc.

Locksmith didn't do the job right. I have one I've been using for so long the flying M has worn down and it works perfectly.

It can be tricky to find a good locksmith. Fortunately one of the FD guys here is an expert locksmith .

Also if you haven't changed out your cylinders, mazda still has the key code and you can get it cut factory grade. Just did this a couple months ago.

...also just keep in mind, a good locksmith can repin NEW lock cylinders if you decide to replace your tired ones. These are used across a number of Mazda's and run about $30/each IIRC.
