Low mileage FD Thread
Wondering how many here have super low mile FD RX7s - talking twenty thousand miles and less - that are original and unmodified
I recently had found (and was first in line to buy) what may be the lowest mile FD R1 in the states. Under 5500 original miles. My price was 65k and it was 100% original. A large consignment dealer had it in Milwaukee and the son of the original owner (who passed) knew nothing about cars let alone RX7s so he called them (closest sports & classic dealer to him) and had them consignment. It was beautiful and looked perfect. I was first in line ready to buy, and took the day off from work to get the paperwork and wire payment settled.....until the next morning. They where charging $16000 dollars in consignment fees and only giving 49,000 to the owners kid....it just didn't feel right and based on that alone I passed.
It has me thinking, how many ultra low mile original ones are left?
Hoping I can buy one and it seems they're out there and the market is dipping slowly and steadily. Maybe this can be the low mile thread??

I do have the original wheels still, exterior is original. I do have the oem front lamps, i installed the depo smoked front lamps for a more modern look. It was to get me through until i do the 99 spec conversion.
don’t convert it!! That’s such a low mileage white car!

Luckily its fully reversible. I have a set of JDM fenders as well which will eventually go on with the 99 spec kit and looking for a spare hatch so i can bolt on the 99 spec wing. If the time comes where i decide to sell, i'll be able to convert it all back.
Thats been the idea for the last 6+ years since ive been sitting on the 99 spec kit for that long, LOL.

After 15 years with FD's and more recently a 93 vr4, I simply prefer taking the vr4 out on the streets vs the FD... Only reason is I can not push the FD hard enough on the streets to really enjoy it! The FD is simply all smiles at track events.
End of the day, both cars are ones that should be cherished and enjoyed. New cars are simply boring after seeing what an FD can do at a track event.
Compared to an FD the VR4 is a beyond comfortable GT cruiser. FD is always on edge, ready to go, while driving the vr4 is calm and relaxing. Absolutely no comparison in regards to handling, the FD is the clear winner weighing 1000 pounds less and having a vastly superior suspension setup. The interior build quality on the Mitsu is of higher quality compared to the FD, however it is no Jaguar...

Interesting to hear that. You may find this funny but my 90s JDM legend hierarchy always went #1 FD and #2 VR4 before the Supra. Just never got the chance to try a vr4 out and always out of dumb luck ended up with Turbo IIs and never any FDs...any good 3GT forums left in 2024 or just FB?
What would be your plans for either car? Perhaps knowing that I could provide more useful feedback.
