Lead time on new engines

Anybody know the lead time on new engines (new OEM, not remans)? Is Ray Crowe still the best person to get these from?

Thanks in advance

You'll have to ask Ray on this. Yes, he is the man to get them from.

If you are in Virginia you may be able to pick up/drop off at Nucar Mazda and save on shipping. I think he said once that round trip shipping is $400.

Is anyone else a little worried that all OEM parts availability seems to be through Ray Crowe? What happens when he retires?

Ray Crowe is the man because of his service, knowledge and parts stash. He is irreplaceable in that context. After he retires, we'll have to look up our own part numbers and find a place that is going to offer worse customer service and pricing. I will be sad....

TLDR: Japan.

a couple summers ago, Mazda USA was ordering these like ~20 at a time, so they would actually have them in stock.
this year though they just order them for each customer, so it takes forever

Anyone getting engines ordered since May? I've heard their containership is currently still anchored off the coast of California awaiting unloading.

the ship backlog is a lot lower than it has been, but CA changed a law to require truckers to be employees and not gig workers, so there have been protests and other disruptions.
that being said Mazda USA didn't have any engines on the way that weren't for customers anyways
