Finally the generation of people with common sense is flowing through this forum.

For 7 or 8 years I've had to put up with you complaining about your car and pining for something else I'm just glad you're finally doing something about it and you can move over to the Corvette forum and talk about how great the car is and what a POS your FD was and you won't have to put up with me and others showing appreciation for the FD ;) I feel fortunate to have discovered this car it's one the greatest cars ever built and the Z06 is just another big muscle car with FAT tires HUGE power and AVG weight so of course it is a FAST car OH yeah and it's SOOOO gorgeous, a real beauty.

I have an LS1 FD and a modded 09 GT-R. If I was upgrading from an FD, it would be to a GT-R but I am lucky to have both right now. If I have to give one up hands down its the FD. The GT-R is just faster in average road conditions and a ton more pleasant to daily drive. Plus even though my FD is swapped, I still spend tons of time tinkering with it. Its nice to have a fast fun car that I never need to do anything to. Just having a much newer reliable car with an interior that looks great and doesn't break is wonderful.

Glad you like the GTR it's the last thing I'd want and the polar opposite of the FD so of course you'll let your cough cough V8 FD go.

Sounds like Icemastr is right on. Its nice to hop in a fast comfortable car every day and just drive.

You are probably a big guy but as soon as you said loud you lost me. The FD is a very quiet sports car. Some of you guys knocking this car could benefit from owning a nice one.

Good thinking but hang on to the FD because those P cars might not be all you were hoping for :)

I think there is alot of truth to this (assuming we are talking about noises not from mods). I notice a huge difference from my rotary car (good condition) and my v8 car (POS). I've also noticed a huge difference when riding in usually lower mile FDs that are in excellent condition. I don't care of people crap on the car but at least be fair about it.

Yep the smooth effortless, quiet acceleration similar to accelerating in an airplane is simply priceless stuff then you throw it in to a corner at virtually any speed with good susp bits and it slides perfectly. A lotus may be more nimble but it's also nervous and twitchy. From a handling perspective the FD is truly about as perfect as I have found.

For everyone who bought the FD as a hot car back when and now its not the fad car it was a few years ago. A lot of people will or have dropped out. Fritz has his FD, because he appreciates just how good the platform is and overall balance and capabilities even today.

I've got a vette and its a very nice car. I am in love with the motor, since mine's a ZR1, for those who know. But its no FD. Its like a Cadillac normally and when you get on it, it changes. But its no FD.

Gordon

I agree I just wish those bashing it would move the eff on and stop bitching about us defending their opposing viewpoints.

Fd quiet??? Yours must be dead lol mine is loud like giving you a headache loud but i love that about it.

RENESISFD 11-23-12 10:20 AM

^ when these cars are stock, they are super quiet. Like, you don't know the engine is running quiet, the wind noise is louder than the car.

All it takes is 10 seconds to put me on your ignore list.

Why does the forum have that feature if no one uses it?

I wasn't complaining about my fd. It actually served me well given its poor reputation. 20k miles with no major faults. That's actually good.

I do agree it may be a POS compared to pristine fd's like rx7rage or bewstew but I still loved it, henced why I had it almost 10 years lol.

Btw I'm already on the vette forum. I'm also on supra forum, srt forum, honda forum etc. All my past cars I had.

So even when my fd is gone doesn't mean Im gone :D

My suggestion is might as well block me now. ;)

93rx74lyfe 11-23-12 12:58 PM

Fritz don't bother, the guys a douche plain and simple. Some people are just defective and will remain that way. Luckily he's in the small minority of trolls that's easily put on the ignore list ;-)

I sold it on because it was too much a race car and unpleasant to drive daily. Then, I bought a perfect 20,000 mile 93 R1 and I drove it stock (minor mods like M2 medium IC) for some time. I still somewhat regret having gone 20b, since, although it is still not as noisy as the original car, it has somewhat lost that incredible smoothness and quiet the stock R1 had. Very few have had the pleasure of actually driving a stock well-maintained FD. It is a real joy.

I would also note for the hell of it that Fritz's comments are right on (as usual) in saying how good the FD handles even today against cars like Porsches. He had one (still does?) and seems to have gone back to the FD as an equal or better car.

Gordon

There's a place for the loud track cars and that's the track :D I tracked a bone stock FD for one weekend just to see how fast I could go in it and that's it. In stock form or even close to stock form they aren't nearly as fun a track setup FD which will compete against virtually any car made so that would make sense.

I have love for everyone and would only put you on my ignore if you ripped me of or I was worried about your sanity.

It's people like you who give it the poor reputation which is surprising considering your history.

Your forum resume and car ownership record are impressive :icon_tup:

From what I can tell he's just young dumb and full of cum, well maybe not the 1st thing but definitely the last 2 which fits right into the corvette thing hehe ;)

Corvette owners and quick please don't take offense I'm only kidding so put me on the ignore list if my humor bothers you :egrin:

Rxmfn7 11-23-12 03:18 PM

As I know I've mentioned to alot of people before, my next car will most likely be a C6Z, debating on that or an older GTS Viper. However, they will be in addition to, not in place of my FD. It can be argued that it is a better car in almost every objective way over the FD, and I honestly wouldnt give much argument. I know its all subjective, but I just don't see the 'vette as a car that I would fall in love with and have an emotional attachment to, as I do the FD. Its an amazing car, and really has few faults.. but it will probably just be something Id play with and enjoy for a few years, and then move on to the next cool thing that catches my eye. At this point if it came down to it, Id almost give up my house as opposed to my FD.

Haha Fritz you of all people I have never wanted to upset. I do appreciate all the knowledge you injected into this forum..you and mahjik are probably 2 of about 5 people I have looked up to since I first registered.

So I found it surprising that you actually got upset. I would have figured you e-knew me by now that it just comes as natural to see an outlandish post from me.

That said yes I'm young and full of cum. I'm far from dumb though as I know how to get under peoples skin ;)..case in point here. Its all in fun and games.

yeah in stock form the fd is a saint! You can actually have a conversation with your passenger at wot. In fact the fd comes equipped with a very audible alarm that goes off when the rpms hit 8k. Its a high piched 'EEEEEEE!' sound. But as soon as the mods pile up the car gets exponentionaly louder. Hence, fuck I haven't heard it in years lol

More entertained by your obsession with talking about the FD and it's inferiority to a superior Z06 or various muscle cars. I hope when you get the Z06 you become completely enthralled with it, mod the ever living hell out of it, then hate it 6 years later and come back to the FD like lots of the smart guys before you

I'll probably own one myself just to run some record lap time before I get too old to drive so I'm not knocking you just don't knock the FD too hard because it may come back to bite you.

I'm sure you're a frikken genius so don't take my dumb comment too personally. I on the other hand am not the sharpest tool in the shed by a long shot but I make the most of what I have. What god doesn't give you, you have to go out and get :)

1QWIK7 11-23-12 06:22 PM

Lol that's part of my objective. To get under people's skin with crazy annoying posts. It brings Me excitement. I love all cars like I said. Me praising the supra in the past or the z now is just for fun :D..no harm no foul though.

I always said if I had a 2 car garage my fd won't go anywhere. But I only have space for one toy and I really believe a car like the z will fit my needs at the moment. Def in the future I'll have an fd again, not a maybe its for sure. Just a matter of when I'll have space for another toy.

If I didn't have to deal with CA smog certification, a high mileage chassis, and the time needed to keep an old car running well - I would not have defected to the Exige.

Fritz is right, the Exige is definitely more twitchy than the fd..but its definitely a fun go-kart! No regrets switching over, although I wish I made enough money and had enough space to have kept both :)

Hi Carol,
Glad the exige is working out well. Great car and one that I've considered many times. Hopefully you'll have a chance to get it on track and post a vid etc.....

I sold the Cayman and just bought a 996 GT3 with lots of track goodies which I'm looking forward to driving and I'll report my discoveries etc... here.

NOPE, with 550 plus rwhp I'd probably seriously hurt myself and it would be crazy expensive to run like two sets of tires per weekend LOL. However it does look like a terrific deal and a really well setup car but as we all know turbo cars can be a pia and also I want to run something that lots of others are driving so I can have fun with the whole desk top racing and on track chasing thing.

I bought a DE setup type 04 GT3. I'll post up some pics etc.... once I have it in hand.
