I dont own a FD but these are some japanese cars on my shortlist with the cheapest being my most likely next car I purchase due to my low budget for a car hobby. I probably won't pick up another Japanese car for 3-5 years while I develop wealth and income, I currently own a *stock* red 95 miata that never gets pulled over or requires expensive maintenance costs.

Speaking of getting a big ass into something, I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Z06
http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...est/index.html Yes, vettes are common, and M3s aren't? The Z06 will outperform the M3 in essentially every category and look better doing it |

Trust me. The thing I want to see regarding the NSX is the visibility from the driver's seat. From what I read, it is top notch. |
Go drive one, there are a few here in SE for sale in good shape with about 70k miles for about $25k
http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...standard=false Does that rear shot not remind you of the batmobile? To be honest, I'd rather have my S2000 |

My brother still has a 93 MR2 Turbo with a 3rd gen swap, but it seems to be bankrupting him. |

Nah man. I see the thread as going waaaay off topic about a few cars people really like. Sometimes its just about having fun. Just because people are passionate about their hobbies and they are having a lively discussion and disagree with each other doesn't mean that they are all insecure or take anything personally. In fact, I don't think you will here anyone say that the FD is the best car ever made. I'm just happy to see a thread update everytime I visit the forum.

btw, I saw the NSX vid when it was first posted, I love it.

The thing I want to see regarding the NSX is the visibility from the driver's seat. From what I read, it is top notch. But i know psychology and my assessment of the posts people make here made me come to that conclusion. Obviously we're not gonna see them word for word put, "the FD is the best car ever made" but when another person suggests another car as being a better competitor, or "looks better", BY OPINION, you quickly see the swarm of biased FD owners come together to shed their light of opinions, almost like they're posting out of defense. The posts people make about the nsx and you quickly wonder what really goes through their mind about the rest of the cars in the field of performance, within FD status. We know the FD is a great track car, street driven is subjective but we know its a great track car. So when you hear people discredit the nsx, when it is in fact, a GREAT track car, you know right away they mainly post out of insecurity. They constantly use the "nsx is slow" as their only ammunition because thats all they have. The nsx is not THAT much slower than a stock FD. The FD already boosted and obviously its much easier to make faster. The nsx is a mid-engine NA car and any car with that setup, is going to cost more to FI/or make faster etc. Someone said no one mentioned the Z06. I did in fact mention it. As of right now the C6Z is the BEST bang for buck you can buy right now. With most models swimming in the mid-high 30s range, you CAN NOT beat the performance for buck. And there was even a thread about this being superior to the FD and of course, like this thread, you got the SAME group of people throwing a tantrum. With the exception of a few who did throw tantrums but was being mature and reasonable about it. That type of criticism is what we need in threads. Not people aimlessly shooting cars down because they feel they are threatened. |

CTS-V?
ENGINE: 6.2 L S/C LSA V8 (556 hp) TRANS: 6-speed Tremec TR-6060 manual sounds like a fun track car, and the interior ( I mean its a caddy). and notice how I left out weight. lol |
Great car, not a huge fan of the sharp angles
How about the IS-F? They can be had pretty cheap now (relatively speaking) |

I do not hate you or any NSX owner.
That being said, people need to understand MONEY plays a big roll in this.. Sure, NSX you could pick up an 92 stock for $25K ish.. but you could of picked up Viking's 500+ FD for similar price. Now if you wanted later model say 2002+ NSX, you could probably pick up extremely well built 3 rotor FD plus an well built reliable 2 rotor FD. I know we are really being just general about what you might want to replace your FD with, but MONEY will play a huge role and what kind of power/ purpose you are going to use. Example, Fritz's main concern is running track. What did he just buy?? GT3!! Did he think NSX is such a great track car as some NSX owners make it out to be?? NO! Not even close.. How about say Ernie T, who makes 700+ RWHP 2 rotor FD that he drag races... I highly doubt he will pick up an NSX to drag... Nor did Viking picked up his NSX to replace his high HP FD.. If some of you realize why you bought your FD and fits better with NSX than FD, all power to ya! Like I said, I would buy an NSX, put some spring to lower it, put some nice wheels, do nothing to the body and engine, and I would just drive it as a daily and see if I could get 400K miles. Besides, that, I don't have money or time to build it to make 600+ HP like I'm trying to do with 20B FD... And If I were to do so, it will no longer be the NSX with the great engine that every NSX owners rave about... it would be very similar to V8s in an FD. Am I saying V8s in an FD is wrong? No, but at least its not going to cost 60-70K to built an engine and turbo it to make 600+ HP... and I guess picking up 97+ NSX would be just a waste.... I would also like to point out, I'm just bias... no insecurities here ;) |
Here's what the NSX needs right here http://www.scienceofspeed.com/produc...s/NSX/Lovefab/

With 500+ at the wheels even I would call the NSX a "supercar" - it can be done if you have the $$$

Maybe i actually could, maybe i cant. But you sir, are the most predictable member on this forum. There you go again, making erroneous statements mixed with half-truths. No one has discredited the NSX. I said more than once the NSX is a great car (although I also believe it is a) over-priced and b) over-hyped), I think it looks like an 90s plank on wheels - that's my personal opinion, and it happens to be shared by several people I know in person - meanwhile, throughout this thread, you can't stop slobbering all over youself about how the NSX is a "true exotic" etc etc - as if that's anything more than subjective claptrap, who are you kidding? News flash: you're not in any position to boast about good behavior. Even now, you can't help yourself taking veiled shots at me, after you claimed you were done. AGAIN, PREDICTABLE. Also, you sir are in NO POSITION yourself to be commenting on whats good or bad behavior. As you been banned 3948394839 times. LOL Thats like a 400lbs man giving advice on how to lose weight. Aimless is your gig, in spades. Yep, I'm threatened by the NSX, just keep thinking that, mr. 10 psi stock ECU |

So, this means.. you could get an 92 NSX for about 25K and another 25K, you could have a 500-600HP NSX ($50K). I'm sure reliability factor of this would go down a bit... but I would also like to know if other parts of drivetrain will handle this kind of power.. even 500 RWHP.. But if it did make this kind of power, Now its 50K range... which, I would start to consider GTR. |

This guy claims the 5 speed can support 700 hp (?) http://www.vadriven.com/forums/showt...49#post2529749 But if it did make this kind of power, Now its 50K range... which, I would start to consider GTR. |
or you could do what everyone does to the FD for reliability and power and swap a LSx in it. I'm just saying. LS2 with cam, heads, and supporting mods and you got 450-470rwhp. Although i dont think i've ever seen a LSx swapped NSX.
I havent even got to drive my FD yet so idk what to compare it to if i were to have to get rid of it. Its a shame that i can say that it wouldnt exactly be missed if i had to get rid of it as i havent even got to physically see it yet. I think my next car will be a STI or Evo IX. Or if i come across some money somewhere out here in afghanistan and want another 2 seater car, probably going to be a XLR-V. Drove one when i was on leave and that car is fantastic. And you can find used ones ALOT cheaper than they are new lol. No resale value. |
