Best part on that car is 3 wheel center caps with no paint and 1 missing. Seems like someone could have gotten a spare center cap and some silver spray paint!

Also that brake fluid is DARK.

Is the rear Mazda toilet bowl badge larger than normal? Seems like it's off another car or something.

I do see the intake piping looks like it's banged up. image #104,#105,#106
I also see what looks like a leak #114,#115

If you are talking about the dent on the intake elbow then it is supposed to be there.

I didn't go through the pictures on their website since I'm not interested in this car, but looking at one engine bay picture I can already see a lot of questionable things. TB coolant hose bypassed? AWS clamp not on all they way? Cruise control deleted? Still bid up to 18k tho

Nope, paint look questionable in those poor quality pictures, need to see the car in person to know for sure.

Here's another one:

Honestly, if I were trying to sell that car I'd change out the pre-auto headlights and hood back to stock. I have those headlights and though they provide phenomenal lighting I know that they aren't very appealing to most and that has an effect on resale value.

That car has many flaws and I'm not really sure it's even worth 18K... As an FYI- that pipe is comes that way stock. You probably never noticed it because most intake elbows are black

Edit- ZE Power MX6 beat me to it. Oh well leaving it up for context.

Wow... ok, so this RHD Red FD just sold on BAT for $27K. I'm shocked, not at how low it went, but the fact that it made it North of $22K. No disrespect intended to the seller OR buyer if they frequent this thread, but so many things that would cause me to pause, or pass. Heavy metal corrosion (the result of years in Japan-land environment), chips, dents, dings. A bottom with heavy overspray. An interior that, quite frankly, needs a complete redo plastic-wise and dash-wise. The car had "claimed" low mileage and excellent compression. Interesting stuff!

colditz_II 07-23-19 02:01 PM

Yeah, that's absolutely insane pricing. I need to sell mine NOW haha.

FEED AFFLUX v5 07-23-19 03:47 PM

I am also shocked. Not that a RHD reached that price, but that one with such poor interior condition did. Makes me appreciate how tidy my interior is.

Oh well, it is good news for all owners I suppose!

Agree 100%! Unless there's some pent-up demand or mystique about JDM cars, this one made no sense to me. Pretty much the entire interior needs to be replaced.

7sins 07-23-19 07:29 PM

prices are all over the place right now, I see people selling 100k plus mileage cars around the same price as cars with less than 60k in FB group. BaT tends to run high compared to market average and I haven't seen anything in the last couple of months under $20k LHD or RHD. Although I agree the dash area on that car looks beat up it is a low mileage car and I don't see any corrosion on the body itself, mostly on the exhaust. I think that demand for low mileage RHD vehicles will rise as low mile LHD examples become harder to come by for a reasonable price, which will in turn drive the price of those RHD vehicles up.

Narfle 07-23-19 10:30 PM

Resale Red. Black interior. Lack of sunroof. Back seats. Most of the interior was nice, except the early finishes, and the torn up dash.

Price felt little high, but some people really seemed to appreciate it's unique JDMness. And, I think how the peanut gallery reacts to the car drives the final sales price a lot on that site. Hopefully the car market is up. The wider market has been a little shook in confidence til lately.

That car would have gotten another 5 to 10 grand if it were a manual.

What would the price difference be for 2 FDs in similar condition and mileage but one is automatic and the other is a manual? If the one above was a manual, I would have guessed it would have sold closer to 30k if not over 30k.

Narfle 07-31-19 03:05 PM

Crazy deal.

djseven 07-31-19 03:15 PM

In fairness, that might be a new record high sale of an automatic FD. Lol

That’s nmoffatt’s car, looks like his BaT auction got approved.

Love the silver/red. Car looks great. All the right mods. If I found a genie with a lamp, I'd have a silver/red FD. This car should bring good money, or should show if the market has cooled off.

Already over $20k with 5+ days to go. Looks like the market is still strong for the clean cars :)

Fritz Flynn 08-03-19 09:50 AM

Yep 93 touring ssm/red looks good. Some people really love this combo so it could bring good money if the right buyer comes along. My complaints; some rust, lots of hardware replaced and I don't like aftermarket motor mounts. That said the owner worked super hard to clean it up etc... for sale so hats off to him for presenting the car nicely.

The VR/tan touring sold for low 30s earlier this year so it should at least bring that.

Just found the old listing here on the forum. Compression was healthy in jan so I suspect it's fine now. Someone should have bought it here vs paying the 5 percent. Unbelievable that BAT consistently does better than private sale. It's a frikken auction LOL.

I'll say 35k for this one. Nicely maintained ssm/red etc....

Fritz Flynn 08-03-19 10:02 AM

This one https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1994-mazda-rx-7-25/ is now for sale at a dealer for 44k https://www.motorcarclassics.com/199...urbo-c-394.htm

crazy market

Fritz Flynn 08-03-19 10:11 AM

Edit, don’t want to get banned

TwinCharged RX7 08-03-19 11:55 AM

Uh oh Fritz. Watch out. The mods (Gen2n3 and Narfle) might come in and ban you for taking about the sale of your car outside of the classified section and then Ban me for asking why they are being inconsistent (or their unconventional definition of picking a fight with them) with how they treat posts like this.
