FD Sale Price Trending
I am sure the data is out there, but it would be nice to have a single thread to collect the information on FD sale price.
If someone sells an FD or observes (with link or screen shot) of an FD sale, perhaps we can put the information here.
Here is some of the data points which would be helpful:
-Year
-Color
-Mileage
-Model (ie Touring, R1, R2)
-Modifications (brief list)
-Title Status (ie Clean, Salvage, Rebuilt, etc.)
-Link to for sale ad
This will help those of us buying, selling, and holding on to FDs. In addition, the collated information may help with insurance/insuring these cars.

I think selling price depends a lot on location as well and that there is a definitive price trend depending on location. I would be really interested in seeing selling prices and locations. I know that here, in Atlantic Canada, we can only dream of the asking prices that the sellers in the rest of Canada or in the US are selling their cars for.
The absolute limit for these cars here seems to be $10,000CAD with most selling around $8,000CAD.
This car sold recently:
Asking price: $11,500CAD ($8,800USD)
Selling Price: $8000CAD ($6,100USD) from what I've was told by a reliable source

I'd say prices are heating up for sure. Sold some side skirts to a dude yesterday who just bought a nicely modded LS1 repainted/avg paint job (original BB now white) 94 touring with 100k miles. He paid 30k but the car had an easy 10k invested not including the LS swap.
30k would buy a bad *** z06. The FD is no joke

I am sure this has been posted before however this seems to be on the low side of valuations of these cars.

I would take hagerty's evaluation with a grain of salt. They are great for high dollar collector cars but when it comes to cars like the FD, 300zxTT, Mk4 Supra, Cobra Terminator, S2, Quattro sport, e36 m3... etc they don't know what they are talking about. I have spent countless hours talking with them about cars whenever they have cars and coffee on Saturdays, they are much more interested in Ferraris, 911s, Lamborghini, Bertone designed cars... etc.
From my understanding they seems to focus more on the high dollar high return collector cars.
Not bashing Hagerty, great group of automotive enthusiasts who truly love everything car related.

FDs are going up in price without a doubt, as are every 90s Japanese sports car, I can assure everyone they will suddenly take a massive price hike if/when Mazda reveals a RX concept car that they want/will build. When Mazda released the RX-Vision concept the price the FDs went up, you may have not noticed if you were not shopping around. I was looking at getting a FD a little before Mazda released the concept and noticed that soon after Mazda revealed the concept a lot of FDs "disappeared" from the market, people deciding the keep the car and the few on the market quickly getting bought, after that prices took a nice hike.
One thing is a bit uncertain though, it seems that very low mileage (10k-40k) go for good money but also people don't seem to want a stock FD. I'm assuming this is becuase of the "troubled" reliability issues associated with the car. People who are looking to purchase a FD want one that has been modded for "reliability" and are willing to pay more. 99 Spec'd cars also are pulling in more money.
This is really strange since most other cars that people buy in this class want them to be as stock as possible so that they can mod the car themselves. So I guess with all that said mod your car

if I'm paying 25k for a super low mileage car I will still be spending a ton of $ for either upgrades , replacement etcetc. example
I bought a very well maintained 94 all original and 1St owner from a older gentleman that's in a wheelchair. I'm at about half of what I paid for the car in reliability mods and replacing out 23yearold oem stock stuff lol

Things like the ABS pump, engine harness, any and all hoses, lines, sensors etc...etc... have much more life than your typical heat soaked higher mileage car. A higher mileage car will nickle and dime you on a monthly basis. It pays huge dividends to pay for a low mileage car especially an FD
Best of both worlds is a nicely modded low mileage FD

PS that said they aren't worth 35k..........there is a limit LOL

I bet the above car sells for at least 25k which is about what it would sell for with a rotary.

However no different than going single turbo. You don't get your money back and if anything you devalue the car.
That said a low mileage single turbo car done right is worth 30k to me just as an LS would be.
I don't see any FD selling for more than 30k (unless an idiot buys it) at this time unless the mileage is sub 20k and it's a 94/95 R2. Still too many decent cars available selling for 15k and you can do a hell of lot with an extra 15k invested into the FD.
ALSO all the 20 plus year old irons are slowly giving up the fight no matter how low the miles are.
