Exhaust Too Loud, Suggestions?

Currently running dual tip Apexi catback. Street Port engine, single turbo with Down pipe -> resonator -> magnaflow high flow cat -> Apexi Dual Tip

Getting too many neighbors complaining. Any suggestions on quieting down the exhaust noise?

You could always put in the Apexi silencer.

There's a reason why so many people run Racing Beat catbacks. Switch to a dual tip RB. You will lose a bit of performance but you will regain your sanity.

Put a different exhaust on. Those guys are RIDICULOUSLY loud!! I ran with the N1 Duals for 3-4 years and learned to carry earplugs in my car as a result

Meanwhile I'm over here running stock exhaust with HKS DP wishing it was louder. How is the HKS Hi Powered catback in terms of volume and tone?

Careful what you wish for... we're neighbors!

That said, the HKS Hi-Power is pretty middle of the road. Not as quiet as a Racing Beat or GReddy SP... but not a monster like the APEXi Dual N1 or some of the titanium exhausts out there.

I personally like it. When you are ready to make the jump - shoot me a text.

Yeah, I saw some videos, but they never do justice to what it sounds like in person. Been ready. Hitting you up!

PFS is another choice. Mellow, low grumble, fits great and flows a bit better than RB from what I've read, I ran one for years at Laguna Seca and never got meatballed (not for the exhaust at least lol) so we know they're not loud like the N1s are.
You can usually find one here for pretty cheap too.

Ya those N1 duals sound like ****. Racing beat for sure. I had one and I really liked it but it was too heavy for my liking. But if I were to do it again, I'll go Rb

Sounds like the cat-back on your car is more on the extreme end of exhaust noise, so I wouldn't necessarily jump right to a RB cat-back (which from what people are saying is on the other end of the spectrum). I have the HKS hi-power and like the tone a lot and its not too loud, though currently I have a [maybe clogged] cat. In the next week or so I'll be swapping in a mid-pipe (just for a dyno run).. we'll see how bearable it is.

Just ordered me some Silencers from Amazon, apparently highest rated ones on Amazon... Looks like its a good fit for the dual N1. I actually do like the music coming out of the N1, but need to be mindful of neighbors. I think these silencers will do the trick, I'll keep yall posted. When it's time for some canyon runs, I can unscrew these and get the full note coming out of the N1.

Something very important has been missed thus far...... what kind of resonator in the middle? How old is it, and do you have a pic?

All I can say is a big thank you to the o.p. for recognizing the 'noise pollution' and taking steps to quiet it down. Unless you're 12 years old and still riding bicycles, no one likes an obnoxious exhaust...I don't care if it's on a FD or a fart can on a Honda, or some ******' Harley's loud-*** ****.

My buddy use to have the N1 duals on his FD and when he would drive home up the hill where he lived that thing would echo so bad for miles. I could literally here him for over 5 minutes when he left my place. Long story short, screw the N1 duals. Haha

Resonator is New, but just a exhaust shop special. I was told it would be good. It seems like its noise level is about the same as RB exhaust with staright pipe based on my buddy's. I will do a comparison once I get the Amazon premier Silencers.

A typical exhaust shop resonator will be filled with fiberglass insulation. Rotary engine exhaust is so hot that it will melt this insulation immediately. A good rotary resonator will be filled with steel wool, or a similar substance. Your "new" resonator is likley burned out.
