eBay 99 Spec Bumper Lights?

So over the past few weeks I've been looking for a deal on a set of Stanley bumper lights for my new 99 Spec bumper... While looking around I came across a set of eBay bumper lights for a whopping $70 and figured I'd see what they were about.

Suprisingly they arent all that bad. From the initial unpacking the housings are sealed, clear, and have a slight smoke tint to them. Harness plugs right in, the interior housing looks to be decent quality. Also comes with bulbs, which actually work.

Didnt plan to run them just had to satisfy my curiousity aftering seeing the price. May rip them open, paint the housings, and add some LEDs for the fun of it. But for anyone looking for a cheap alternative, these arent all that bad...

And a daylight picture

Most will hate them. Some may like them. Either way, here they are if anyone else was also curious as I was...

Yup, that chrome backing ruins them for me. Like being at an event and noticing the car running Nankang tires or something. I do agree that the new OEM units are mega pricey, there are better options out there

Went ahead and opened the light housings up for paint. Im leaning towards the black but may try my hand at a color matched VR housing. Always hated chrome.

I was gonna get a set and play around with it by adding Halo rings and changing to LED. Anyone already try it?

Some photos of them out of the bumper and some shots of them opened up...

Had a slight mishap and chipped one of the lense covers.

For anyone else looking to transform some cheap bumper lights, I baked them in the oven at 300 for about 8 minutes... Did the 1, tossed the other one back in for 4 minutes, and then did the second. Really easy if you take your time.

Ordered up some color match VR NU paint tonight as well as some matte black and gloss black to try different looks. Also ordered some LED rings and LED projectors. Total so far $9 for 4 rings, $19 for projector housings, $12 for H1 LED hi/lo bulbs, $19 color match VR, and some super glue for the cracked lense $3 lol. Roughly $130 out the door.

I never had any luck with taking apart depo turn signal, something with their seal seems be "permanent." I'm surprised you got one off well.

So paint finally came in as well as the projectors and I've made my first move towards building the lights. Still waiting on the LED rings but until then I figured id post up so photos of the color matched VR fog lights...

So far they are turning out pretty good. Need to drill out a few holes in the other tunnel for turn signals before I remove the tape but im definitely happy with how they are turning out...

That looks really cool. I have one suggestion to salvage the lens. Replicate the black inside border on the exterior to hide the chip.

Nice job man!

I like how it turned out. Good work! Might be nitpicking but the paint of the housing seems slightly darker than the exterior color.

Thanks.

And suprisingly the housing is lighter than the bumper. The tinted lense makes it seem a bit darker but for what its worth im happy.

Added in the amber LED turn signals tonight, might do away with the angel eye LEDS and seal the housings back up this weekend and install. Will post pics soon
