Barra Swap fd

Haven't seen this being talked about. I believe rx8's and fc's have achieved this so possible for a swap on a FD? Has anyone done this on a fd before or thought about and saw complications along the way hence no one is talking about it?
Yes its a long, tall heavy block bit will it fit?

Welcome to forum. Why would you want to destroy an FD with a Boat anker engine stick with the rotor

There's a reason nobody has talked about it. I'd love to do an S54, but it's heavy and long and tall so there's no point.

Just go LS if you're after a high hp piston setup. Lighter, shorter, known quantity. You might actually finish the car instead of parting out a cut up shell

You would think that a NZ person would be waving the rotary flag, and also have much better access to RHD parts and engine builders.

I'm guessing height would be an issue. And then having all that cast iron hanging over the front axles would make it only suitable for straight line racing. The biggest one for me, assuming NZ prices are anything like OZ prices, is chopping up a 100k car. Would be pretty cool though until the novelty wears off.

100% agree

people who go on forums and ask about nonsense swaps in any chassis are the ones to have no intention of doing it, no means of doing it and no ability to do it. even if someone did embark on this journey, the absolute reality is abandoning the job and there being 1 less FD in circulation.

Yep, they’re the ones whose bare feet and greasy hands you see on FB Marketplace, holding parts they can’t even identify but trying desperately to sell to finance their “swap build project”. If there’s a saving grace anywhere in the sad saga, it’s that the car was usually bagged out to begin with from someone else’s ill-conceived, under-funded and barely post-adolescent “build project”.

Haven't seen one, but with that one in the Rx8, an FD should be comparative doddle. The usual straight 6 JZ and RB swaps are around 80~100mm shorter to make life easier, it may help to dry sump it too.....not as if the traction issue will be improved over those with the extra litre plus capacity.
