Was looking for some new cars tonight in Walmart and found some more 787s. Looks like they got some old sets in, might be worth checking out. Saw them in two different Walmarts tonight.

antman,

Nice! Did you say that the Furai was only available in those 9-packs? I was on the hunt today for a couple of FDs, like Tom93R1's Color Shifter. So I found a REPU while at Wal-mart. I also forgot about this Jada "Endless" FD. It was squirreled away in a drawer.

Jada "Endless", found it in a drawer recently

For FuhrerTuner & Pete_89T2,

I sent an email to Mattel requesting a Hot Wheels version of the FC. I received this response:
"Thanks for reaching out to us about the Hot Wheels RX-7 Line. While I don't have information on when or if series 2 will be made, our website might be a great resource to check out. Keep checking back, as we add new Hot Wheel series all the time.

https://shop.mattel.com/shop/en-us/m...tentPageSize:&

The following retailers may also be a good place to start: Walmart, Target, Kmart, Meijers, Fred Meyer, Sam's Club, Shopko, Kohl's, Sears, and JC Penney. You can check their websites or other online sites like Amazon.

I apologize for not having more specific information, but I hope this helps!"

I followed up with a reply requesting a run of FC cars, both in turbo coupe and convertible versions. For antman0408, I saw a ZAMAC FD for sale on ebay. Isn't it supposed to be released later in the year?

The maroon furai I only ever seen in the 9 packs. The zamac fd I mentioned will be out in a few months. There might be some on eBay, I didn’t check. People get the cars right from the factory and put them on eBay before they are officially released. I don’t know it they are workers taking them out or they’re able to buy them. This happens with the super treasure hunt cars the most. Also the blue repu is a super treasure hunt car. Their paint is different and they have rubber tires, not the plastic like the regular car. These are very very hard to find. You basically have to be there when the new cases come out to find them.

Do you think my REPU is a super treasure hunt car? I don't think it has rubber wheels. Its wheels look like typical plastic. Could I be wrong?

Is there a model name on the package? Several years ago I picked up this green one, but I don't think Mattel was able to use the name RX-7 at the time so it was called the 24/7.

Try to look on ebay or wherever for Tomica diecasts. I got this one for a birthday present. They don't roll as smoothly as Hot Wheels but the doors open, and they have sort of a suspension. The body is sprung over the base.

i have the color shifter one also. You are right it is not called rx7 but 24/7.
There’s another FD coming out right now. The red Fd from the first fast and furious movie. It is in a premium line of 5 cars, all based on cars from the original fast and furious movie. They are all metal cars with rubber tires. Little more expensive at 5.50 each.
There will be a silver FB coming out in a month or two also.
I’ll keep you guys updated when new cars are coming out.

Thanks, antman! Where did you find the Fast&Furious cars? I was at my local wally-world and didn't see anything. Congrats on the Treasure Hunt REPU! Where did you find it?

I got my f&f set at Walmart. But I have seen them at target this week, might have better luck there. I found the repu at Walmart. They are getting Easter dump bins, had to sort through 600 cars to find it

antman,

I checked out another Target & Wal-Mart today in search of the F&F set. No joy. However, the trip yielded 3 good surprises!

Found at Target.

Left one found at Wal-Mart. Right one found at Target along with the JDM Tuners model.

The Wal-Mart color changer looked exactly like the Target color changer when they were bought.

One more update on my toy rotary car collection. I got these from 1 seller on ebay. It may be "cheating" because I didn't hunt for them at local stores but these were out-of-production runs. Two interesting notes: first, 2 of the FD cars had a white "Hot Wheels" logo for a rear license plate. Second, the same 2 FDs had "round" tail lights that were visible in the photos.

Take a look at my recent haul.

FB #1

FD #1 with gold rimmed wheels.

Hot Wheels logo license plate & round tail lights

FD #2

FD #3 with gold spoke rims.

I bought a few cars on eBay as well. Those two red ones were a Kmart exclusive. Went to Walmart today and got to dig through a fresh dump bin. Found the new FB and also found 4 super treasure hunt cars. Still can’t believe I found 4, most of the time I’m lucky enough to get one.

Today's grocery store find. Also foundt Mad Mike's rotary Miata but didn't get it in the shot. I'm not exactly sure why a bunch of "New for 2017" cars suddenly showed up in the latest grocery store inventory but I'm not going to complain.

The zamac fd is suppose to be out now. Only available at Walmart. This will be the third wave of zamac editions cars released this year. Each wave has 3 cars. I haven’t seen any of them yet so good luck finding them. Seems like I might not find this one in stores.

Thanks, Antman!

I'll keep an eye out for the zamac FD at my surrounding wally-world stores.

Looks like there will be two more FDs this year.

The white one from the f&f set I think will be out this month or next. The yellow one is in the car culture series so it will be all metal car with the rubber tire wheels. Don’t know when that set is going to be released.

I had one of the wind-up 99 spec rx7 toys, and it was awesome. So awesome my son and I eventually destroyed it. It sure took a lickin', tho. Gotta get another one of those things.

Nope, nothing. Don’t think I will either. Gonna have to go to eBay at some point
