Others will chime in I'm sure. I would say $10-12,000. It also depends on the owner of the car, if he really knows what he has or is just looking to get rid of it.
It could be something as simple as fresh gas and new plugs and you have a solid running car, or (more likely) it needs a rebuild. You need to budget for that as well. Also you may have problems if the car has been sitting - a few months, no big deal. Many years, you are looking at shot brakes, rusty gas tank, interior mold, etc. All things to consider. Or at least things to present to the owner to justify the price.
