Want to buy, but need to know first :p
I went around dealers looking for rx7 to buy. I just wanted to ask you guys, what the potential of these cars were with stock twin turbo? could i boosted up to ???psi = ???hp.
would i do it with chip or boost controller?
how much would be the turbos if i broke them?
how much for engine if i blew it?
what kind of milage should i be looking for?
if the car doesn't start straight away, is that bad?
any pointers for purchasing this car - please help.
(i only found 93 rx7. some dealers are selling non turbo 93 rx7 more than turbo rx7!! i think they are smoking pot)
thx for your help guys.

in order, let's see:
Hp vs PSI: I can't asnwer directly but for about $2k-$2.5K you can get over 300 RWHP: DP, catback, cold air inlet (home made), ECU upgrade (I bought a P-FC, it's better), Fuel pump, IC?(this would put you over the 2-2.5k mark) and maybe a dp, 13 psi boost (14 will likely blow the motor with a stock IC).
To run higher boost you need both a chip upgrade and a boost controller. A manual boost controller (like $15 in parts) will work. You need more fule to run higher boost levels and only a chip will do.
Stock rebuilt turbos are $1500-$1800 plus install so under $2500. You could put them in your self. I mean theortically it's possible
You might want to say away from the phase, "How much for engine if I blew it". Or you risk a smart *** answer like,.........never mind.
A Mazda reman is $1950 several people say they suck. You can get yours rebuilt for $2500 or so ...under $4k for a good rebuilt with a mild street port (assuming you motor is not one big ashtray....or maybe foot stool).
Don't know: If you can find one with under 50k miles I'd bet you'll pay between $16k-$18k (at least I hope so.) There are beaters out there for $10k with over 100,000 track miles.
Maybe
Take it too a good RX-7 mechanic for compression test and inspection. Or do like me and just buy it cause it looks great and is really fast.
You say that like it's a bad thing. You must be talking about a second gen as there are no N/A 3rd gens (93-95).
