tachometer acting up

I've had my 93 touring (84k) for appx 2 months now and my Tachometer has recently started acting up (reading high). Based on my driving to date, I have a good feel for the car at various rpm, so I'm pretty sure that it's the tach and not something in the engine control system (engine actually running fast). Other than the 3k stumble, fuel delivery is smooth and idle has been rock steady at 650-750. Car is stock. Plugs and wires were replaced 2k miles ago with no change in rpms at the time.

Any ideas on what it might be? I seem to remember that the tachs are electronic - any connections that I should check/clean?

thanks

I have the exact same problem. I have MSD wires that are a tad too short, and new ones are one the way that are longer, because when I press them on very tightly the problem SEEMS to halt for a while. I'll let you know if this happens to fix it, I really hope I don't have to replace that tach! In the meantime, check those wires! They can be a b**ch to get on all the way!
