Mazda did not change their air filter system until 1999 when
they blew some engines on a race track. What did they discover
in 1999 that I had been saying for years? The engine was pulling so much air from the IC duct in low gears that the IC was not doing it's job. The PFS air intake system has the same flaw.

So Mark, if you want to blindy believe Mazda, go on being duped.

hehe consriacy theory time...now would mazda leave the ast in knowing they really dont need it? look @ the thermo neck. why make it so you can eliminate it (early remains have a 1 piece thermo neck so you cant do the elim)..now the boost gauge..mabe its b/c they didnt want you to be able to see if you had a problem so youd bring it back to get it fixed...who knows companies do some wierd things....mazda is gonna tell you their reason...i personally have looked @ the situation and eliminated it..i also upgraded my rad..put in a 180 thermo neck..and run like 90/10 water to coolant in the summer...

ive been workin on my fd for 5 years now and just this summer started workin on other peoples fd's....ive done it all to my car..righ now the engines out..single and haltec are goin in along with new motor.. all you can do is constantly keep readin and learnin and makin your own educated guess...there is no 1 way to do things to this car....either way elim or upgrade has is followers...some people pay 150bux for an almnium can..others eliminate it...the facts are the bubles will dissapate when in the overflow tank,they will leave the system through the over flow wether the ast, or the termo neck, and the thermo neck is a higher point in the cooling system than the ast....i know many times when i still had the ast i would open it it would be filled to the top but the thermo neck would have a nice airbuble in it...

but once again the choice is yours..
