LOLOLOL!!!

Thanks for the props guys. I'll look and see if he has a full engine shot once he completes processing all of the photos from the shoot. These were just some of my early favorites. Speaking of that, here's my personal favorite that I forgot to post up last night.

Really seems like it's "photoshoot" season with all of the recent shots from new photo sessions.

Someone got lazy with photoshop ^

Car looks great though I highly suggest getting some sort of hood pins installed, I have proof of what happens when you don't.

Hey Dan,

Understood that the Photoshop touch up could be a little better, but it was almost totally dark when he took that last pic due to us starting the shoot late. We'll go back and reshoot this fall. Care to post up the pic of your hood failure? Just curious as to how many guys NOT running hood pins have had their hoods release. I thought if the hood latch mechanism failed, that it would at least catch, but is that not true? Is this fairly common? I bought an original Amemiya CF hood due to the exceptional fit and added rigidity. I owned an AD-9 knockoff before this Amemiya hood that I got from Chuck and it was a lot more flexible. I had been thinking of adding pins... just hadn't gotten to it yet, so I'm curious to hear from anyone who's had a failure.

Thanks!

As I said previously, it was nearly dark and he was shooting at F4 for something like 6 seconds, so please cut him a little slack if you don't like the image. We will be reshooting sometime later this year. We were running out of daylight and he was pretty rushed.

It wasn't my car, a Subaru attending a charity cruise I was at had the hood fly up and demolish his windshield. To be honest though he wasn't the brightest fellow, a week prior he was in an accident which damaged the latch. He replaced the hood and bumper with carbon fiber pieces and no pins, that was all she wrote. I've attached an image of the window but left it small so it doesn't clog up the thread with non Rx-7 ****.

Understood Dan. Thanks for replying. Agreed, we need to keep this thread on topic, so my apologies to everyone for the side track. I may start a thread on "hood pins versus none" to see if we can get a few to post up with actual FD experience. Thx!

My FEED hood moved more than I was comfortable with without pins at high speeds. I had to stick some on, as I want to track the car when shes finished.

I've seen first hand a R34 GT-R demolish its roof on track. No way would I visit a track without them

Curious how everyone claims to have seen hoods "pop," but no one has posted a pic to substantiate their statements.

Also no one will ever admit they forgot to latch the hood in the first place, which of course can't be proven in retrospect.

btw I have a brand new set of unused Aerocatch Plus Flush hood pins for anyone wanting them, as stated above. PM me for a good price

in keeping with the current theme "HOOD PINS" this is my Crap box doing 120+MPH with no PINS. Notice the lift and stress on the hood with out pins. Is this safe? NO!!! do i trust the Japanese manufacturing skills of the hood safety??? Yes!!!

I have seen plenty of blown hoods in my life time to know if i need it or not.
