making my own single turbo kit, any input????
making my own single turbo kit, any input????
I'm going to buy the XS-engineering TO4E single, HKS wastegate and make my own exhaust manifold, downpipe, oil lines. Does anyone know where I could get a flange for the manifold and the DP? I know a guy that does a great job in welding and could just buy thick walled mandrel bent pipes.
dude i want to do the same thing becuase 2,500 - 3000 bucks is more than i can afford at the moment and i have to get an eninge rebuilt the turbos are shot so i figure now is the best time but if i can get the turbo by its self for 800 then the rest for at most 1000 that would be frggin awsome if not i guess im gonna have to take out a loan
i hope some one helps us out

I don't like how the exhaust manifold on the XS kit sits so low. I wanted to make a manifold like the Apex kit. As long as you have someone that is willing to do good welds, it shouldn't cost anymore than $2500 and it will look alot better. Plus you get to have things the way you want.
Get a manifold from South Florida Performance, there in the back of Turbo Magazine, it's around $500. This manifold kicks ***. Find you a TO4 whatever for $800-$1000, and then make the rest yourself. I personally did my setup for about $500(used TO4S $200, rebuild $100, used mani $200, and free welding and pipe.) You can do it cheaper than a kit, you just have to have access to the resources.
