Hmmm, wonder if a new (or rebuilt) master cylinder might help with the pedal travel....that's about all that's left! I would think all there is to do would be to replace few O rings in there.

Did you bleed the system thoroughly? What fluid are you using?

great pics Damian, wish I had taken more pics when I did mine... I think I was more concerned with getting it all done than documenting it because I was doing the whole 9 yards, pads, rotors, lines, etc... it was about to rain too

glad that you got past the stripping of the nut, quality tools are definitely worth the extra cash

I'd have to agree with them feeling better, mine had the original lines and I'd say that after 80-90K they are probably a little worn out, couldn't believe the difference in feel afterwards

well, I had to go through pad break in, and still going easy on the rotors. Now, they grip harder, but the pedal feel from the SS brake lines, IMO doesnt kick in untill you need to stop faster then the typical 40mph to 0. When u start to get on the brakes, thats when you start to notice teh difference.

mine problem is the opposite, if you brake light it feels normal, if you smash the brakes hard the pedal travels deep and it dosnt bite like it should

Of course you did.

Have you been alternating between synthetic and dino brake fluid in the system since you replaced it?

(Maybe you could try cutting the brake pedal arm - kind of like a short shifter.......)

here, I'll save you the trouble:

tell me what kind of pads are people using? i have the stock ones in there now and they feel real... um.. buttery? they dont bite at all. i am running hawk + and ate blue on my dads miata and the braking is a hundred times better. the only thing is that they dust like hell. the rims were black after a few days. also little dots of hot brake material gets stuck to the rims and its nearly impossible to get off!!!! there is a fair amount permanantly stuck on the rim. i love the FD rims too much to ruin them so any suggestions? axis? what are people using?

Many people are using Hawk's. I'm using the pads from Performance Friction, and they rock. They don't dust too much, and they bite like a ****. I'll definitely try some Hawk pads next time, but I'm really happy with these for now.

Ehh, actually, that's artowar2 shamelessly copying someone else's post that he found somewhere else on the Internet

The key points that I took away (and I'm sure that artowar2 agrees with me on this ) is to replace these things periodically, and try some sort of coating if they don't already come with a coating.

Which Performance Friction pads are you using?

Rich,
I'm running the Z-ratred pads they offered. Part numbers here:

0463.10 - Front - Z-Rated® Performance Pad models with 4 piston caliper only

0482.10 - Rear - Z-Rated® Performance Pad

...but you can check out their whole line of stuff for cars here:

http://www.performancefriction.com/HwyParts/

Thus far I've been really happy. They came recommended from a friend when I first bought my FD, and the pads, lines and fluid were one of the first mods I did to my FD. Definitely a great mod, but I have to be honest and say that I have only had the stock pads on their before, so I can't compare to other aftermarket pads.
