I want to take off emblems in the rear... Anyone ever do it???
Hey, i really want to take off the mazda emblem and maybee the rx7 emblem off the rear of my fd. Anyone ever do it and know if it can be done. I am not sure i can even do it cause it might leave something behind. Any pics of what it would look like would be greatly appreciated. The reason why is cause i used to own a Mustang 5.0 and i took off the 5.0 emblems off the car and i thought it just looked better. Not a big fan of emblems. Besides, i want people to wonder more and more what i am driving

Hey, If your not going to do anything with the emblems you take off your car, particularly the RX7 and Mazda emblem. I would love to have them. My mazda emblem currently says... nazda and the RX7 emblem fell off!
Let me know!
Thanks,
Mike

sold the FD...kept the FB
My Rx-7 symbol got caught in a towel when i was drying off the car a long time ago. It broke in half, so i removed the whole thing. Its funny watching people look at the car and wonder what type of mazda it is.

I agree! I took off both on the rear and I love to watch people look for some indication as to what kind of car it is. The mazda emblem will leave 3 small hole though. My car is black so you hardly notice. I like the look better! Good luck!

Efini Emblems
Last week I took my Mazda symbols off the front and rear of the car and put on the Efini emblems (25 bucks each from Rotary Performance, rx7.com). I used an index card folded in half and just slid it under the edges and pulled. There was some nasty black adhesive under them which I was able to get off with a clearcoat safe body scrub--took forever to get the crap off. The front looks awesome, but on the back there are two small black spots in the paint where the stock emblem rubbed the paint away. You can't see them unless you're up close and actually looking for them. After some deliberation I took off the Mazda logo as well...I've always hated the way it looked. So now I have three small holes in my back bumper, but I like them better than that ugly logo .
I think the Efini emblems look bad ***, esp. on the front. All 3rd gen owners should get them .
Question....is it ok to leave the small holes exposed? I'm wondering if allowing water to get in there will lead to problems over time.

I'm not sure about stuff being behind the emblems, but I kept my old bumper and the glue from behind the "mazda" lettering is impossible to get off. The bumper was original too, so the glue was like 9 years old. If you take enough time to get the glue off, the back should look fine. I would get the efini emblems too. I'd just feel that she's naked without any emblems. And I don't want anybody looking at my girl naked now do I?

I used floss to remove the 'RX-7'. It was easy and left no holes behind. The 'Mazda' has holes behind it.
I gave away the '7' to someone on this forum bc my 'RX' was broken. If anyone has a set of 'RX-7', I wouldn't mind putting it back on my FD. TIA.

oh ok, so i guess i wont be doing it then since it will leave holes. My friend did it to his 97 maxima. He took off the "maxima" with floss on the rear and it looks a hell of a lot better. Left no holes and the paint wasnt really faded either. Oh well.
