HI I'm new to this forum

Hi, I'm a camaro guy mself but I am very fascinated with Rx-7's. I think they are pretty cars and in my opinion a lot better than the supras. It seems that at every forum I post in it's littered with people who are in love with Supras. I'm not ragging on those people but I just have my own opinions on supras. And I think they suck Anyways I would like to learn a little more about 3rd gen rx-7's I do know that all 3rd gen rx-7's are turbo charged and I know that they have rotary engines and that they're 2 rotors and little stuff. But performance wise I'm quite clueless. I would like to know what these things run at the drag strip and how well they respond to modifications. And I would like to know what the most popular mods for these are. I also like how rare the Rx-7's are around here. In Tucson I;'ve only seen 2 3rd gen rx-7's in Town. If any of you guys post on this board please let me know I would like to see your guys' cars. Mine is pretty popular around here. IT's the one that says Bitchin' Camaro. Anyways thanks a lot

If interested in these 3rd gens "93-95 they are rare, in MN less than 20 registered, Rumor has it 3k registered in the US out of about 13k imported. You can buy a moddified used on for about $19k, 360RWHP in 2800lbs dry. Low 12s and 120mph 1/4 mile easy. Handles great, especially compared to a Camaro. Must be maintained properly, else could be very expensive to own. I'm sure many others here can give you more advice. Too bad out forum lost its data base last night. There was a wealth of information here for you. Be forwarded many people here are rotory fanatics. Some don't like piston V8 lovers. As you probably already know the car is very stricking in stock form. Depending on your tastes body kit are avaiable. Here is an example. Good luck in your pursuits. Do alot of research first, very wise.

Welcome!

The 3rd gen take well to mods you just have to do them in the proper order or you will be putting in a new engine. The first thing to do is to make sure the car is in sound running order, hose ty wrap job for the turbo control system, fuel filter, spark plugs, fuel pump in tip top shape, then you can start with modding the engine. The rule of thumb is two mods before you have to do something about the fuel. You can do two of the three, intake, downpipe, exhaust. Without the downpipe you maybe able to get away with an intercooler upgrade as well. However it is wise to get a new ECU early to enrich the fuel. These engines don't take kindly to knock. One ping is all that is required to send a rotary engine to rotary engine heaven. If you are willing to give the car tender loving care and do the maintence religiously then it will reward you with with lots of fun. These cars are meant to be driven hard. If you don't drive them hard on occasion you can kill the motor with carbon build up. Now that I might have scared you, you will be more inform and can make a better decision into whether you want to jump into this. I bought my 93 4 years ago and have never looked back. I bought before even knowing anything about these cars. I just lucked out and got a good one. Once again welcome and feel free to ask all the questions you want.

Hey... welcome to the fourm. I'm from AZ and there is a rotory group here in AZ that I just recently met some people from. I'm getting back into the rotories myself, I had and old 84 and loved that thing and I plan on getting one back and then saving up to get a '93 R1 in cash.

One of my good friends has a Orange 99 Z28 and wants a 00 SS or a 01 SS (incase you were thinking of selling.... tho you probally arn't )

Have a and join the fun!

Welcome dude! I'm probably one of the FD's you've seen around town - red in color. I had a 67 Camaro with a 327 that I used to trash on a regular basis. Metal flake paint and all. God damn I had a lot of fun with that car, not to mention that the backseat was larger that it looked! Wanna trade?

Hey Thanks for the warm welcome you guys. I don't think I personally will be getting an Rx-7 but I'm trying to convince my little brother into getting one. He's into BMW's right now. Anyways I love my SS I don't think I'll be selling it anytime soon however I would like to have a couple of rx-7 guys to cruise with. I'm not too into body kits and spoilers I like the rx-7 the way it looks. Maybe with a small spoiler on the back that i see on some of the rx-7's around here and not one that's too obnoxious. As for body kits I think the Rx-7 looks perfectly fine. I know that most turbo cars require a lot of maintinece but hey I like working on my car anyways RonKmiller I think I might have seen you around. Is your car Red with matching black stripes I think it is or some sort of stripy design with a sun roof? Because I think I might have seen that one round town. I've talked to a guy with a Silver Rx-7 in town when I talked to him he said something was wrong with his turbo or something of that sort he had a bunch of tubing taped up. He was a pretty cool guy though. Well thanks a lot guys I'll be posting more often as soon as I read some interesting threads hehe see ya
