FD idles at 1.5k-2k RPM for a few seconds at stop lights

I typed the title wrong in the last thread so lets try it again.

This is the odd problem. When I get to stop lights or stop signs I press in and hold the clutch in while I'm braking. While I'm stopped my engine stays at around 1500RPM - 2k RPM for a few seconds then it drops down to the normal idles of 800-1000RPM. This just started happening a few weeks ago and it happens at least one time every 2 days or so. Should I be concerned?

I would check the vac hoses, especially nearby and under the manifold to see if any popped off. It can be a bad check valve too.

Also, I would spray some carb cleaner around the intake nearby the turbo to see if you have a lower intake manifold leak.

If this doesn't occur consistently, I wouldn't be too concerned. If it does, I would look into it and possibly get it checked out by a rotary specialist. I doubt if it's going to help but you may want to read the code off of the ECU. It's easy to do yourself by shorting two pins under the diagnostic port and reading the number of flashes of the check eng light.

BTW, does this only happen during hot weather?

my car does almost the same thing,at stops the idle will be at 1500rpm tapping out which is very annoying, it will stop doing this if i turn on my parking lights and hold the brake pedal down then the rpm drop down to 800 to 1000 rpm and the tapping out goes away.

Maybe you want to take a drive at early morning or late at night when the temp is cooler to see what happens.

I suspect the lower intake manifold is leaking which often causes rough and high idle.
