Depends on what you want. I do know a new motor with porting and other cool reliability stuff done to it is ~$5k. Call Dave at KD Rotary in PA (610 614 1214); he's very honest and really knows his ****. A personal friend of mine . I live in TX and wanted him to work on my motor bad enough that I pulled the bastard myself (w/a friend) and shipped it to him. He's very good, so he's very busy...you'll have to reserve months in advance, and you might want to email (kdrotary@enter.net) him if you can't reach him by phone.

hope this helps,

$5k????????????
jesus H christ! that is outrageous. does he use a gun when he hands you the bill? glad i do my motors myself.
btw. i know who dave is, so please dont get into how great he his cause i am sick of so many people kissing hiss *****. just saying $5k is rediculios amount of money if you pulled your motor yourself and installed it yourself. must not be such a great friend of yours if he charged you $5 for a $2k (give or take a few hundred) job.

I usually charge about 2000. to 2400.. I do all the upgrades, teflon coolant seals, oil system upgrade, port/polish....etc..That is rebuilding of the short block...... assuming the core is rebuildable. I have built over 100 motors and do it more as a hobby.....
