I know that you can replace the speedo and you suddenly have 0 miles... Is there anyway of telling if someone has done this? is the milage stored somewhere else (like on the computer) or anything?

I don't think that's happened with my car or anything - it still smells new (well, it did until someone egged it last night - bastards), but I saw a 7 for sale that made me wonder.

curious

PS - if egg gets in or around your engine bay and you drive to go wash off your car.... the eggs cook.

PPS - there's a place where egg (and water, I suppose) can drip down in front of your tail light section through the seams where you pull off the cover to replace the tail lights.

PPPS - eggs leave about 100 little scratches in your otherwise flawless paint and tail light lenses upon impact, but do nothing but spray egg snot when they hit your windows.

PPP... oh whatever - eggs make the inside of your car smell like... well, rotting eggs.

Speedo

OK...heres the deal. I had my guage cluster out of my car for over a year, after driving the car 2000 miles in the interim. I put back my cluster, hooked up the speedo and all the miles were acounted for. So I am pretty sure the milage is NOT stored in the cluster. I am not sure where it's stored...anybody know this?
