Brake - Master cylinder problem
Hi All,
I installed speed bleeders today. Tested the brakes with the engine off, and it was very firm. Started the engine, I could feel that the brake slowly sinking to the floor. I also heard a noise that sounded air escaping near the brake pedal every time i pumped the brake.
Took it for a test drive, and it seemed to stop ok.
1. Is my master cylinder dying?
2. Do you know what the cost and where to get one if i put it myself?
3. Is it a big job?
Any help will be greatly appreicated.

The air noise you hear is from the power assist unit not the master cylinder. Some hissing when you hit the brake is normal, when the power assist goes bad, the pedal is rock hard, not soft. As far as your pedal problem, it sounds like you still have some air trapped in the system. Did you bleed in the proper sequence??

Turbovr6,
Thank you for your reply. I did bleed the lines in this order, RR, RL, FR, FL. I just looked at the workshop manual and they were talking about RR, RL, FL, FR. Is that the correct sequence?
Also, i think that i might have open the bleeders slightly more than 1/2 turn, could that cause the problem also.
I'll rebleed the lines tomorrow.
Thanks again.
