Yeah i read that, but i am pretty sure his problem was NOx and not HC (the cat mainly gets rid of NOx, HC it only does a little for). I have thought about getting another CAT put on for emmisions and then using a test pipe the rest of the year.
I tried to get it as hot as possible before the test but it takes so long for the actual test to start it is near impossible to get it hot enough.
But i think the CAT is working fine, as the NOx is almost nothing, and that is what it mainly cleans out.

[QUOTE=Texas_Ace;8476938]LOL, you JUST saw that i didn't have that connected? I have said it just about every post in this thread. You are getting slow in your old age.
Yes, it is not connected with an elerical plug. The reason being this: I bought the car with it disconnected, i pulled the carpet back the other day to look at it and found it was disconnected, but when i tried to find a plug to plug into it, there is no a plug to be found!
So i looked in my parts car for a plu, and it also had the ATP disconnected in it as well with no plug in sight. And it is ripped all apart so i can see everything, no plug for it at all.
I have known all along this would lean me out a little, I just can't for the life of me find a connector to plug into it.*********************************************** ************************************************** ************************************************** ***********************
Any idea where it connects to?
Well it connects to the ECU. It's output wire goes to pin 2H and is green/yellow.
It's plug has FOUR wires. G/Y to pin 2H.........a Br/W wire that feeds ref voltage to the sensor via pin 2A on the ECU............a Black/White wire that is constant 12vdc.............and the ground wire either Br/B or pure Black.
Something is wrong. All series four EM harness have that plug. I suspect it's connected to ANOTHER THING in the car???????????? There's no rhym or reason for your two harnesses to not have one. Only a Dork would have cut that plug off.
And, yes, I don't have good reading comprehension, but I can pass emissions testing with one hand tied behind my back.
See page 50-25 and 50-26 of the 88 wiring manual for the ATP sensor and it's wires and plug.
That Br/W wire in the plug is spliced to all the other sensors who use 5vdc power from pin 2A, as shown in the wiring diagrams. Use care if you splice into 2A. But I just KNOW that four socket plug is there somewhere. Connected to radio or window plug??? Who knows. The Shadow........

I notice that E85 is sold in Texas by KROGER. Do a Google search for KROGER E85 LOCATIONS and find one near you. I have NO idea of how much you should put in your tank, and I've read a normal car that is not made for Flex Fuels might not run normal, buy maybe you could try something like five gallons E85 and five low octane regular gasoline. I just made that mix up out of thin air.
It's just a thought.

Hmmmm, for some reason stopped getting e-mails about this thread...
Yeah i don't know why i can't find the plug, i will look again though, that picture gives me an idea of where to look.
I doubt i will splice into the harness, i usually end up messing up splices to importants things like that.
any idea how rich the car would be running with it disconnected?
Interesting that E85 is sold in Texas, darn that it is mostly by the coast or the other side of DFW from me.
Next year i will keep that in mind though, i am just glad to have it done now. I can now get to work on other things like a 5 lug swap and getting it running "right"

I probably could just disconnect the ATP from my car and watch the AFR. Might do that tomorrow.

I PASSED!
So today i went out and changed the oil, it was NASTY, i had changed it with Pensoil when i first got the car but it was REALLY nasty after virtually no miles and just idling. Wow.
I put in some AMSoil 5w-40 (what was recomended by amsoil for my tempreture). Seemed to help it run a little smoother.
I then replaced the spark plugs, the old ones were also a little dirty from the oil i put in the rotors when it was flooding.
Then i retarded the timing about a 1/4 turn of the CAS. went to test it again and it passed with very good numbers actually. thanks Andrew for that tip!
So if your HC is too high, retard your timing and it WILL bring it down.

There is a factory spec, and it does have to be there...in california at least. Good job on passing...I might check my timing, and lower it down a touch...I failed at 15 too.

That must only be in CA, here is TX they could care less what your timing is, heck i was messing with the timing in front of the test guys after i drove up.
I drove it there and away with normal timing, just changed it for the test.
