YAR! explodin transmissions is where its at!

hey guys, remember when my tranny was making wierd funky noises and i asked if it was my throwout bearing, and someone said that it was prolly an internal bearing. well it was. 7k in 3rd the darndest thing happened! almost one mile of transmission schrapnel. i was hoping that it would go quickly, like a blaze. ye be warned, do not go 100 with a dead tranny! i have another tranny(bought it when i knew this was gonig to die) any one know where i can get it race prepped? like tougher forks, gears, and synchros. ahoy me mateys!

Get a turbo tranny. As long as you don't run without oil in it then you should be good until like 400 hp.

If it's old then get it rebuilt for around $400.

Digi, quick question... in order to do the TII tranny conversion, you'll need the TII tranny, TII driveshaft, and TII clutch/flywheel... correct?

can you keep the NA diff.?

edit- also the slave cyl.

On a somewhat related note, some idiot at my high school in a jacked-up 4x4 truck blew his center diff. trying to peel out of the parking lot. The driveshaft and rear axle fell off and the bed started dragging the ground, then smoke started coming out of the engine bay. I think that was the funniest thing I have ever seen.

I'm not exactly sure about what's needed for a NA to TII tranny swap.

Here is what I need for my TII engine and tranny swap.

Tranny
Slave cylinder
Clutch
Tranny mount/cross support(Not positive on this one)

Then here is where you get optional.

-Either Mazdatrix hybrid drive shaft so you can keep the NA rearend.
-An Auto Vert drive shaft is supposed to work but is a little short(can work but should be lengthened)
-Another way is to redrill the mounting points on the drive shaft to accept the NA rearend.

---------------------------------------
OR
TII Driveshaft
TII rearend(diff/half shafts/rear brakes and hub)

The last option is best since they are beefier components but it's a bastard to remove the subframe.

LOL.

I didn't have a grinding noise and shredded metal.
I was going up hill and I drove it like it was a manual because deep inside I hated it, and I wanted to kill it. Just not right then and there.

But when my auto tranny blew it went like this:

WRRRRRRRRRRRR !!!!CRACK!!!!

I looked down at the auto shifter and said, "Okay, now that is ******' broken."

Several years back, my friends had 7 adults in about a 5 year old Plymoth Voyager (this was when the original ones were only about 5 years old) going up a very steep hill, and the tranny literally dropped out the bottom of the car and started scraping on the ground.
