Exclamation help me make a decision guys!!!!!!

A girl I know that has always had rx7's is cleaning shop and getting away from cars in general. She has an
88TII that she will sell me for 2 grand. It runs (haven't heard it yet though ) , has no exhaust right now, just had the ecu replaced, and she says it pulls hard (I'll have to test drive it first of course) Body looks good no rust that I saw, couple of panels are not the right color (darker red, drivers fender, front bumper) but I'm not really all that worried about them right now. A decent running TII for 2 grand seems like a hell of a deal to me, especially since I Just sold my gxl earlier this week for a grand and I'm dying to get another one as soon as I can. I don't mind an engine project, I just don't want to deal with bodywork again for a while, and this doesn't need any.

I assume I should do a compression test, she knows her stuff, but I don't think she knows about all of it, she's only had na's before. I just want to be sure I'm not getting screwed. I'd probably give her 1500 if it weren't running and I knew I could get an engine easy. at worst, a 100 dollar jspec would probably get it on the road if it turned out to be **** right??? I just need some affirmation that I'm not making another big mistake

Watch out for excessive boost creep with the exhaust off. And regardless of what she says, do your little how to buy check list. Aaron has one on his website some where (www.aaroncake.net).

Dont stomp it. Remember boost is made from load. You could ***** it upto redline and not be making much boost. Or you can stomp it and be making full boost at 3k...

hey--different color body panels usually means there has been a wreck. MAKE SURE you check out the frame under that sheet metal. Ask about it--has it been hit? Also--get a vin # check from Carfax. Dont wait til you have already bought it to do this. How long has it been sitting? how many miles? Has it ever had a rebuild? Does it have any mods?
Check out the suspension too--look under the car as best you can. If you see leakage on the shocks they are bad. Common since the car is 15 years old, but with these things you may be able to get the price down further too. Good luck man--I hope it works out for ya!
